Summary: Useable, Empowering, Readable!
Review: I read many books on health--alternative and conventional--and this is one of the best combo books I've read. Instead of preaching--to the converted or the unconverted, Dr. Boice invites the reader learn about the "secrets" to optimal health and then invites us on the journey of life long choices to reaching our own personal health goals. I've never seen anything quite like it. I also compliment the author on her writing abililty--it becomes apparent in the "educating" parts of her books. She's facile at explaining chemistry in an understandable, easy to visualize way and NOT be patronizing. That in itself is a feat. Speaking of visuals, this is a very interactive book, with drawings and pages to write in to work out your vision for a healthy life. I recommend this book!

Summary: Why this is a "must" read for creating health in your life!
Review: The author talks about complex and mystifying subjects that we've had a lot of conflicting information about, like fats for example. She is able to make the subject clear, understandable and put it into ordinary language without condescending to the reader. By the time you've finished reading what Dr. Boice has to say about fats, you realize the issue is complex, and that there is a lot of partial and contradictory information floating around. You also realize you can do something intelligent and healthy about fats in your diet.

The thing I liked best about Dr. Boice's book is that she invites me to participate in creating my own healthy life style and then involves me in the process through goal-setting worksheets. A lot of books try to motivate by guilt or fear and condemnation. Dr. Boice motivates by accepting that everyone is an individual and each person has a different starting point for creating a healthy life style.

Dr. Boice motivates us to take charge of our own lives in this area that we have given over to the "experts" in nutrition, medicine and chemistry. Her approach is also truly "whole"-istic because she reminds us that we are not just a physical body, but also emotional, mental and spiritual. By the time I finished But My Doctor Never told Me That! I realized how common sense a healthy life style can be. I highly recommend this book!
