Rating: 5 stars
Summary: essential for our mental health as artists
Review: i am a performing musician (25+ years behind various guitar-shaped items) and emerging writer and have dealt with most of the issues described in this book, not limited to; drugs, despair, depression, envy, guilt, blockage, etc.... YOU know, all the biggies.
Maisel writes with deep and heartfelt understanding of the artist's interior world as well as the exterior challenges we face dealing with the public, money, spirituality, motivation and each other. He addresses exercises and questions to specific examples within each art form (writing, dance, theater, film, music, more...) so you'll have no trouble relating the ideas to your own art form.
This is a book i'll come back to repeatedly for inspiration and understanding and practical ideas to help deal with the reality of being me, an Artiste (tip pinky skyward here.)
