Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Disappointing
Review: I was gravely disappointed when I ordered and received this book. The very title, "Eccentric and Bizarre Behavior," lead me to believe that the book would cover conditions and diagnoses that are not well known. That isn't the case.

This book covers some things that you can read about in any medical or psychological journal (such as Munchausen's Syndrome by Proxy, Hairpulling, and Autoerotic Asphyxia) and some that are just plain boring (Replaced by an Imposter, Supertalents in the Subnormal, and Frottage--rubbing up against someone for stimulation). It simply wasn't worth the price for me. However, it reads relatively easy (not impressively though). If you aren't familiar with the different conditions, I suppose this book would prove interesting to a first-timer.

The title is misguiding and the reading is not exciting, but it has some good points for those who do not know what Munchausen's Syndrome or Autoerotic Asphyxia is. Recommended to a select few, but be cautious. You don't want to waste your time and money. :o)

Summary: Potpurri of phobias and case studies
Review: If psychology interests you, this is a good read. I found it compelling and interesting because the authors give a brief summary and case study and cover a lot of different phobias and conditions that are very interesting.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Good for novice readers
Review: When I sent away for this book I expected it to be more detailed and have a wider variety of topics. It does a good job of giving you the basics of the topics it has without a lot of technical jargon. So if you are just starting to learn or read about abnormal psychological behaviors this is the perfect book for you. It also gives good references to other books for more detailed research on each of the conditions discussed in the book.
