Rating: Summary: Nothing here Review: Gayle Sand really has no business advising anyone about anything. The book is variously described as being written by "Gayle Sands" and "Gayle Sand." After skimming this book, I'm not even sure that either one of these "Gayles" is a woman.
Rating: Summary: One Woman's Journey Review: I've skimmed many menopause books, and this one hit the spot for me! Gayle Sand's reaction to menopause was similar to mine, which I found to be comforting. Many of the menopause books which have come out recently try to convince the reader that menopause is a wonderful event, based on weak arguments that have nothing to do with menopause itself! Like me, Sands hit menopause at 47, which, at least in my case, was about 4 years before I expected it. It was a relief to read about someone else who had some shock and fear about the process, and didn't necessarily want to tell friends and family about it. I appreciated the book more for sharing the experience than for medical information given. There are plenty of medically-approved websites that address the medical issues of menopause, anyway. Finding a source that validated many of the feelings I was having was much more difficult and more important. Incidentally, though, this is the book that my gynecologist recommended!
Rating: Summary: Her sense of humor was Comedy Central material : } Review: When I first looked at the book I didn't think it really was for me, seeing that I am after all only thirteen and have a couple years yet till I have to worry about "Menopause".But once I picked it up I couldn't put it down. A lady at my mom's work had loaned the book to her. When she asked how my mom liked it my mom told her that she hadn't read it yet but her teenage daugter (me) loved it. Every one always told me that I had a "weird" sense of humor, but when I read the book I found that Mrs. Sand had the same sense of humor as I. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm sure that if/when I reach menopause I will find this a very useful tool.It is kind of funny that I know more about Osteoperosis and Hormonal Replacement Therapy "HRT" than most 50 year old women.Thank you again Mrs. Sand for your wonderful sense of humor that I enjoy every time I read your book. A faithful fan in whatever you write. thirteen year old ME.
