Summary: Practical Guide to Astral Projection
Review: I found this book in the library while looking in the 133's (occult) and read it in the aisle for a half-hour, snickering, before I took it out. It is an interesting book, but for the same reason any book on astral projection is: the proposition on which it is based that astyral projection is real and can be expeirienced, to such a degree that there can be a practical book on it! I read the book. For the first two of its six chapters, the author tries to convince us that it is real; and for chapters three through six she gives us four formulae, the last of which is the fully conscious astral projection; for the seventh chapter, she just fantasizes about the possibilities of astral projection. It's sort of convincing, so I began to try to do what she calls rhythmic breathing, which is done in preparation for all exersizes (hold lungs full for n heartbeats, exhale for 2n heartbeats, hold lungs empty for n heartbeats, inhale for 2n heartbeats...). I could do it, but only with an immense amount of concentration and effort. I realised that rhythmic breathing is not a natural process at all! This meant that the authors themselves did not understand their subject matter. Although Formula One is a very effective meditation ritual, I seriously doubt that it will help yuou to astral projection, even if it is real. And she expects us to do each for at least two weeks before proceeding to the next? The three chapters where she actually tells us anything read like a manual, which does make it seem more real, and possibly encourage us to try. I finally understood that the entire book is a joke, as a manual for an unreal phenomenon, and it does that pretty well.

Summary: New Age Junk. I wish I could give it 0 stars!
Review: I read the book and tried the techniques but I must say that they are really confusing and not that good. The example with shooting out a cloud of your stomach and then trying to form a human body with it is just too much for me. If you want to spend money and read this book then go ahead but I would not give it a high rating.

Summary: Not practical at all
Review: I was interested for some months in Astral Projection (since I heard about it), so I decided to give it a try by buying this "practical" book. I tried, and I tried, and I tried, but nothing happened, besides some positive effects on my life, which were results of the chakra technique.

The bad thing about this book is that it is NOT practical. Noone can do the painstaking and time-consuming techniques it describes without getting either frustrated or bored. There are so many unnecessary and goal-distracting little things it tells you, that it could get you to even hate Astral Projection (AP), which is the contrary to the writer's intentions!

My advice to the potential Astral Traveller (anyone can do AP, don't be afraid to try) is the following: Don't read this book. Or read it but don't take it too seriously. I acknowledge the effort of the writer but unfortunately this book is goal-distracting and it provokes unnecessary fears, prejudices and drawbacks. You wanna do AP? Search the web with many different search engines for "astral projection" or "out of body experience" and read. Read A LOT. Read EVERYTHING. In the end, you'll understand what AP is, and figure out what's the best technique for you.

I give it 3 stars for some good info contained, and for the chakra technique. Nothing more in this book is useful.

Summary: Astral Projection from the Western Tradition
Review: I've been reading these negative reviews and find that they are based primarily on a fundamental lack of knowledge and in a couple cases easy solutions to the complexity of this kind of work. One reviewer claims that this book is too "occultish". That's laughable, becuause not many things are more "occult" that trying to force your spirit from your body with the intentions on traveling to other dimensions of reality.

Having said this, the book is challenging because it actually asks something of the reader......dedication and commitment to the process. These authors are practicing metaphysicians/magicians for many years and are the head of a magickal order based in England called Aurum Solis (Denning recently passed away).

There is a lot of experience between these pages and it can work for you if you work with the techniques within.

Namaste

Summary: Buy Buhllmans Book
Review: Okay, this is the first book on the subject I bought... I found the instructions long and questionable. I think if you want a good book, buy "Adventures Beyond the Body" by Buhlman. Its much better.

Summary: Absolute garbage.. I can't believe I wasted my money
Review: This book is absolute garbage. I have actually bought this book and read it. I agree completely with the other authors talking about how confusing and impractical the instructions are. They do not make any sense. I can't believe I wasted my money on this.

Summary: Utter Garbage
Review: This book is utter trash. The techniques described are confusing and hard to understand. You have to concentrate on so many things at once it becomes tiresome. Also there is no sort of description of WHAT you will feel as you project. I gave up until I found William Buhlman's "Adventures beyond the body" by only reading the narration and journal entries contained in the first 2 chapters I was able to begin the initial stages of projection WITHOUT all the nonsense. Throw this book in the trash if you were unfortunate enough to Purchase it. I wish i never had
