Rating: Summary: catching the flow Review: Qi is the life force and universal energy, and its flow is what feng shui is all about; attracting the positive, keeping the negative at bay, and balancing the yin and yang (female and male principles). It applies to our inner life, our home, and our surrounding habitat, helping to bring harmony to every aspect of our lives. This unpretentious little book is a good primer, giving the fundamentals in an easy to read format, with simple descriptions and diagrams. An excellent place to start is in the clearing of clutter, which is a big obstruction to the desired flow, and to make sure that the lighting is adequate and in the place where it will give the most benefit. It covers every area of your living space, including the nursery, which many feng shui books bypass, and your garden as well as your business; specific things like stairs and windows are discussed, and the importance of a pleasant view. It has a chapter on "Cures", which include mirrors, the use of color, and plants. For some some basic information, and the instructions to implement it, this book is a fine overview of the subject to those not familiar with this ancient Chinese art of placement. As it says in its final chapter, "Feng shui opens up a whole new world-a new way of looking and listening to your environment".
