Summary: Certainly one of my favorites
Review: After I completed my test, I turned out to be a Physical Tan. I was astonished by how well it described my personality. This book means a lot to me because it made me realize that I'm ok the way I am. I don't have to change anything to be happy. I give my most sincere thanks to Barbara Bowers for writing this book. It's a true gem.

Summary: Maps The 14 Auric Colors and Personality Patterns
Review: Dr. Barbara Bowers was a lady who had an amazing gift of discerning the slightest difference between hues and colors. She also could see auras. In her book "What Color Is Your Aura?", she catalogues humanity into that correlates with their aura color: 14 distinct personality patterns: red, orange, magenta, yellow, physical tan, mental tan, green, nurturing tan, loving tan, blue, violet, lavender, crystal and indigo. Her book also contains an in-depth questionnaire to determine your predominant personality type and aura.

Bowers explains each of the 14 colors and how each approaches physical reality, their mental attitudes, emotional makeup, social style, compatibility with the other 13 colors, personal power and leadership style, financial choices, career options, and spirituality. It's an informative manual on 14 distinct personality patterns that can aid in career searches, understanding mate compatibility, relationships, finding life purpose, and so on.

In many ways, this book was a precursor to the ANSIR® personality system. (Bowers and Seich were planning on collaborating before Bowers' untimely death.) What Color Is Your Aura? is a fascinating trip into auras, energy, and personality patternsand--aiding you in seeing yourself and others with fresh, and more compassionate, eyes.

Summary: Very insightful.
Review: Dr. Bowers has truly been able to capture the essence of personalities in her book. After being able to identify my personality/aura type (Crystal), I felt a sense of relief from being able to understand the differences I've always felt in relation to other people. In many ways, the author's insights have brought me some serenity...I can accept that I have a totally different experience in life than other aura-types, and become the individual that I'm wired to be. It was quite fascinating and helpful to read about all the other aura-types, and it helps me to relate to them in some ways. Thank you, Dr. Bowers!

Summary: Creates Misunderstanding
Review: I had a very strong reaction to this book because I see auras, have had mentors who see auras and more, and have read a lot of existing literature on the subject. And I can definitely say that not only are the colors of an individual's aura tremendously exaggerated in importance, there is NOT one core color that remains the same for an individual during all of life!

The aura is made of many colors that shift and flow, but it is also made of specific layers, and shades of light and dark, and other structures that join it...this complex energetic structure is over-simplified by this book.

Furthermore, pigeonholing people by a question-test longer but not more sophisticated than those found in teen magazines is just not acceptable. People do not have a core 'personality band' with a set color.

Please read other books and become well informed - read Barbara Brennan, Hands of Light; read Warren Grossman, To Be Healed By The Earth; read Mark Rich, Energetic Anatomy; read Donna Eden, Energy Medicine. All of these books are written by seers who resisted the temptation to create a pat, easily marketable 'which type am I' system, instead respecting the wondrous complexity and astounding variety that emerges when you view the human aura, as varied and unique as humans themselves.

Summary: Believe.. They are there, and She is REAL
Review: I met Barbara about 6 years ago. We sat next to each other at my sisters rehersal dinner (Barbara was performing the wedding). All through the dinner, we spoke about my personality and everone elses in the room. It was an experience that I will never forget. My father mentioned his aura colors previously and I didn't understand. During the dinner, she confirmed that my dad and I have the same colors (Mental Tan with Yellow overlay). After the wedding, I found the book and read it. The truly meaningfull parts include how I relate with other colors (like my spouse - Green). The test is pretty accurate. The psychological summary of the colors is very good. The relations are invaluable. It is hard to convince others of the aura. But take it from me, it is real, and she is real. Very few people (like 2-3 in the world) have her ability. I have reviewed other "Aura-light" books and nothing compares. If you have the interest, this is the only book to buy. I haven't spoken to Barbara since, but I heard she was doing orginazational seminars over Europe. Quite a dynamic woman!!

Summary: Very important work
Review: I purchased this book over ten years ago and it still has a profound impact on how I view the world and other people. This is not a book to buy if you want to learn about chakras, actually seeing the aura, etc... but is written to help us understand the differences between people. Over the last ten years I have done away with a lot of new age ideas but this is one book that I truly cherish. It helped me to understand myself (crystal aura) with all of my strengths and weaknesses and how I relate to the world around me. In some ways this is similar to the Myers-Briggs which is a wonderful way to understand and appreciate personality differences. The book gives you a test which is fairly good but over the years I have given it to people and it has not always been correct. I have retaken the test and I now come out with a mixed blend of crystal/green/violet and I know I have added these colors or personality attributes to my aura over the last decade. Pamala Oslie's book Life Colors is very similar and the ideas were taken from this book- if you are really interested in this I would recommend both titles since Oslie's book contains information that is not in this title.

Summary: I love this book!
Review: I read this book a few years ago. After reading the Indigo I realized I had written poems of all of the traits. For the first time in my life someone articulated what I have been feeling for years! I haven't been able to find other aura books that are so specific. I'd love to hear from others who enjoyed this book as well.

Summary: They don't get any better than this!
Review: The best book on aura's I've ever "seen". See yourself through the perspective of color and light. A must-have if you see auras and don't know what to do with your talent.

Summary: A Good Place To Start
Review: This book is a great place to start in the study of auras - what better way to become better adept in recognising colours than by recognising yourself and your own colour along with the strengths and weaknesses.

The Personality Test has helped me understand family and friends around me a lot more easily and come to terms with things I often took to heart which were in fact, natural intrinsic parts of that person.

It was with a sense of justification that I realised that I wasn't alone in who I was - that how I respond and react to situations and do things isn't wrong, it's who I am. I am now better equipped to handle my life and work on my strengths and try to minimise my weaknesses.

One comment against the author is that it is often written very "high brow". That is, you know it's written by someone who has studied for a long period of time as the language is a little difficult to understand at times but on the whole you get the gist of what's going on so it doesn't cause that much of a problem.
