Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great Book, with not such a great title
Review: As a therapist working with survivors, their families and abusers, I found this to be one of the most useful books I have read on the topic. The writing was rich and interesting, the ideas were expressed simply and beautifully, and the actual examples of how to implement Madanes' ideas in the therapy room were presented clearly. I have become a better therapist from reading this book, and my clients have benefitted. I recommend this book to anyone working with abusers or the abused. I hated the title, and almost didn't buy it because of it, but the book is really worth it, even in hardback.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: predictably sexist
Review: Could you imagine the howls of protest if someone tried to write a book titled "The Passivity of Women"? The title alone implies that men are generally violent. Madanes should be ashamed of herself.
