Summary: extremely useful book
Review: As a health care practitioner, I appreciate having found a skin care book which I can recommend to my clients. The book is well written and pleasant reading, and Ms. Ash takes a wholistic and intelligent approach to skin care which clearly outlines the needs of our skin and how to properly maintain it. She also addresses attitudes and approaches toward aging gracefully and how to avoid some of the current trends in skin care which work against healthy skin in the long run. This book does not endorse any particular line of skin care product but sticks to straightforward facts about our body and its needs. It does, however, help the reader avoid the many very expensive skin care products on the market which are, in fact, less that healthy for ones skin. My clients who have read and begun using the information contained in this book (as well as myself), have had very good results with their skin, and we have been fortunate in finding products to meet our needs. Thank you.

Sharon Kraus, L.Ac.

Summary: good, practical advice
Review: I found this book helpful and straightforward. It was an easy read and I was able to implement many of her tips without spending extra money. And so far what I have tried has worked. There are no miracles, few absolutes, and almost no product bashing. Just simple ways to take care of your skin without hype. Ms. Ash also dispels some common myths about skin care and discusses topics such as sun exposure, basic skin care steps, and problem skin. This is a good start to learning more about keeping your skin in good health.

Summary: This is a great book for basic, useful information
Review: I LOVE this book. I have a business teaching women relaxation and skin care techniques at in-home Spa Parties and found that the information here was basic enough to offer to my clients without being overwhelming. Let's face it; what product out there doesn't tell you it will solve all your aging issues? I like the fact that she doesn't list products to scurry out and buy, but gives you general things to look for.
Carolyn's book is divided into chapters that allow you to choose the info you need right now, and then go back later for additional information when you can digest it. I also had the opportunity to hear her speak and then visit with her for a few moments at the Natural Bodycare Convention this summer. She was just as helpful in person as she is on paper.
This is a great book and I'm looking forward to the release of her next one.

Summary: A no nonsense skincare book!
Review: Not only have I read Carolyn's book from cover to cover, but I have been a loyal client of hers for eight years. Her knowledge and philosophy of treatment is special in the age of "high-tech" skincare hype. She believes in consistency and a basic 3-step cleansing process. Carolyn knows about the skin as an organ and believes in treating not just ones problem, but helps to determine the cause. Ash's book is direct, highly informative, and covers any question or concern you could possibly have with your skin- she's seen it all!
