Summary: Dead Doctors Don't Lie
Review: Doctor Joel Wallach: Doctor. Doctor? Yes, Doctor. Joel Wallach is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and in his book, Dead Doctors Don't Lie, he gives sound practical dietary and health advice in a no-nonsense, straight-forward way that has personally impacted and saved my life.

If you suffer from arthritis, obesity, diabetes, hypoglycemia, or any number of modern day ailments, I urge you to just give this book a read. If you don't wish to read it or are unable to devote the time to reading due to time constraints, too many obligations, etc., try the audio version. You will be so amazed, you'll wonder why no one hasn't made this required reading in all allied health curriculums.

Who knows? You may find yourself healed as well: much to the chagrin of the beneficiaries of your health insurance payments.

Summary: Money-hungry Wallach know his stuff... BUT
Review: Dr. Joel Wallach certainly knows his stuff. He knows the importance of minerals in diet, knows which foods to eat, and has studied long-living cultures and received his information from others who have done extensive research. What I do not like about this book is the fact the entire book is basically Wallach preaching about his supplements and his involvement in different supplement companies. His colloidal minerals are a very good, important supplement but some of his recommendations are strictly because his company happens to carry that certain product. All in all, it's a great book for someone with poor eating habits, and is in poor health. For the educated ones, you can find better material on the internet these days.. or in Robert Barefoots book "The Calcium Factor", which is the best book I have ever read in my life.

Summary: Most fascinating & informative!
Review: Finally a doctor that is interested in preventing & curing disease for the better of mankind instead of lusting after the almighty dollar! This book will change your life, literally. Don't hesitate to order, believe me, you will want more! Thank you Dr. Wallach & Dr. Ma Lan for restoring my faith in doctors (naturopathic, that is!) I'm ordering more books for Christmas!

Summary: Dead Doctors Don't Lie
Review: I give him 2 stars because at least he is approaching a topic from this perspective (anti-doctor). I leave out the other 3 because I don't necessarily trust him either.

His priority seems to be to knock out his competition, creating the perfect path for his indoctrinations ONLY. He's got a lot of guts to make suggestively contradicting statements about what we already know, such as smoking, exercise, and trans-fatty acids, all citing the longevity of the Japanese for doing this (Well, they also eat A LOT of vegetables -- and perhaps their pollution is different -- don't know -- but who cares cuz I'm not gonna start smoking anyhow!! His "shpeel" on Coral Calcium is brilliant, stating that "there is no Coral in Okinawa. I went there and invested 10's of thousands of dollars just to find out, and there is none there". So -- everyone else is lying??!! And that Coral Calcium you are buying in the health store is really not what it purports to be? Well, you could take the other view as well, that Coral Calcium is his big competition, and he wants to hog the market on minerals -- and only promoting his own products.

(Consider also, Joel Wallach has been around a long time, is quite intelligent, extrememly well educated, most likely A MULTI-MILLIONAIRE, and a very good and convincing speaker who goes at it all year round, seemingly supporting his own campaign only.)

The question is -- Would you believe him ? I hold no further comment on him, but I am very familiar with him and his work.

Summary: Money-hungry Wallach know his stuff... BUT
Review: I have heard Doctor Wallach's DeadDoctorsDontLie tape, DeadDoctorsDontLie radio show and loved what he had to say but always left with doubts and questions. This book answers ALL the questions. Doctor Wallach's stories are amazing! And his medical advice is so desperately needed by so many. The book is the best and least expensive second opinion you can get. I would reccomend this book to anyone. The book is primarily about vitamins and minerals and which ones will help which diseases. It is amazing to discover how many diseases are actually vitamin and mineral defiencies! After trying some advice in the book and using some of DeadDoctorsDontLie advice and products my gray hair went away! I know it seems impossible, it talks about it in the book and I didn't believe it until it happened to me. It was amazing!

Summary: will add years to your life.....
Review: I've read three of Dr. Wallach's books: Let's Play Doctor, Rare Earths Forbidden Cures and Dead Doctor's Don't Lie, I'd rank Dead Doctor's Don't lie as the best. He has some wild anti medical establishment theories but above all else his most important message is that rather relying exclusively on doctors people should take responsibility for keeping themselves healthy. I haven't bought any of his controversial supplements but based on info in his books I've both lost weight and have discontinued taking all five of my prescriptions by simply cutting the foods out of my diet that were unknowingly causing my symptoms.

Summary: For every household!
Review: In a world where "the doctor knows best", this is one of those books which make us shout "AT LAST!"...getting back to the nitty-gritty of health and what's required by the human body to not only survive, but thrive. Dr Wallach has explained in clear, concise and often humourous words what everyone should know: We need minerals to become and remain healthy. The two authors have listed the minerals, what each one is responsible for, and how much to take. Not only is this an excellent reference book, but it is entertaining as well. I truly believe that a copy of this book should be in every household - I'm about to buy my second copy to lend to friends and family, as I simply won't let my own copy go!

Summary: Take with a LARGE grain of salt...
Review: Makes some very wild and unsubstantiated claims... but what I did find interesting is how closely his [current] advice [in "Live Doctors Do Lie" tape] parallels that of Atkins, Sears and Peskin... all low-carb, hi-protein gurus.

Summary: Good "doctor", great book, solid info
Review: This book has a vast collection of very important health information. Wallach is a guru himself somewhat, but definately incorporated others' views into his book. Such as Linus Pauling's Vitamin C bowel tolerance doses, etc. The information part of the book is great. I refer to it often to give people advice. It's a wonderful reference book. Unfortunately, 7/8 of the book is an autobiography of Wallach himself. Not a bad read, but I was a little bummed to see that much of the book was not health-related. The most solid points that Wallach drills into our heads are mineral supplementation, and paying attention to food allergies. It's amazing how quickly your health can turn around when you stop eating allergenic foods. All in all, great info. I would give 5 stars if it weren't for the long bio.

Summary: Dead Doctor's Don't Lie by Joel Wallach and Ma Lan
Review: This hodgepodge of nonsense, part comedy, part cook-book (take so many of these and some of that...)was at best a glorified compendium of quackery and at worst a misleading and downright dangerous book. Start out with the author's credentials. "Doctor" Joel Wallach. Doctor of what? Not and MD or a DO, not even a DC (doctor of chiropractic, who spend four years of post-graduate education and are trained in human anatomy and physiology). He is a veterinanrian! While veterinarians are well trained to performed their duties, they are not trained to evaluate, treat or diagnose human conditions.Just as a physican has no business caring for your pets, a veterinanrian has no business taking care of people. If you consider advise from someone trained to take care of your dog and cat worthy of following for your self, personally, or for a loved one, then you really need help! Start out with some of the statements in the book. People deficient in Copper develop aneurysms (weaknesses in the blood vessels wall that can rupture and cause death). The basis for this statement is based on the fact that cows (yes people, cows!) who die and are autopsied and found to have aneurysms sometimes have a Copper deficiency. Therefore you, as human being should take Copper and therefore you will not develop aneurysms. While both cows and human are mammals and have similar physiology, that is as far as the resemblance goes. There is no proof whatsoever that Copper supplementation helps prevent deaths from aneurysms (a search of scientific and medical databases show no truly convincing studies). Vitamin C, long touted as a heal all and good for all has recently been shown to actually be deleterious to your health in doses higher than 250 mg per day. Ascorbic acid, vitamin C's correct name can actually increase tissue oxidative reactions (in other words it acts as a pro-oxidant! totally the opposite of what it is touted to do). Doctor Wallach speaks broadly on the scourge that is diabetes. Take Vanadium and Chromium Piccolinate and all is well. To give advice of this nature is downright criminal, as many diabetics are likely to follow this advice and lose their blood glucose control, leading to the awful diabetic complications of blindness, heart attacks, kidney failure and leg gangrene. Vanadium has not been shown to do anything for diabetes at all. As for Chromium, the American Diabetes Society has submitted a position paper (by physicians not veterinarians) recommending that diabetics should supplement their diets with 100 micrograms of Chromium Piccolinate daily as being helpful (not curative) to help regulate their blood sugars. The book goes further in inflaming public opinion by suggesting that all physicians are money hungry, callous and crooked. He states that doctors receive $1000 every time they order an MRI. How they do this is a mystery since the average cost of an MRI is about $1000 (what do the people doing the test keep for themselves if the physician gets this money). Does Dr. Wallach not know that receiving money for sending a patient for studies is called a kickback, and that there are anti-kicback statutes with stiff penalties for such behavior enforced upon any physician that would dare to engage in this type of activity. This book is not only full of inaccurate information, it is full of malicious, slandering and dangerous advice as well. Read it only as comedy, seek your health care by someone qualified to give it, or else face the consequences later.
