Rating: Summary: Great Herb Source Review: I am buying this book again because my last copy is so worn. I have found this book to be extremely helpful to me. I am not necessarily well versed although I have done my own personal studying on this subject matter. It has helped me enormously in the information as well as the format. I do not find it cumbersome at all.
Rating: Summary: My NUMBER ONE Reference Review: I have close to 100 books on herbs, and whenever I need something this is the FIRST one I grab! I have several copies at home, one at work and one for traveling around. I can't recommend this book highly enough!!! It has a one-of-a-kind chart included which is pure gold! I've never seen a chart that is so useful! The only drawback I've found in this book is the lack of some of the Rain Forest herbs, such as Pau d'Arco and Cat's Claw, which I would dearly love to see Smokey's write-ups on. This book includes a section on herbs, a section on illnesses, a section on diet and cleansing, as well as a section for learning about herbology which includes invaluable information on herbal actions. This herb book is great for beginners and professionals alike. I have read all of Smokey's books and would unhesitatingly recommend them all.
Rating: Summary: Natural Healing for Herbs: A Complete Manual for Herbal Use Review: I have managed a book store and currently work in one of the largest public libraries in the south. I have seen many books on using herbs for health and medical reasons. This is by far one of the best. For the last ten years I have recomended this book both personally and profesionally. It is really not for the beginner, but if you are familiar with herbs, this is a book for your collection.
Rating: Summary: Cult of Santillo Review: I'm not normally one to gush, but could this book have been written any better? The only thing that I regret about this book is that it doesn't have Smokie's John H. on the inside cover. I am studying to become an N.D., myself. Smokey has the information in this one book that I have gotten out of three texts. It's kept simple, full of info and instructive. Love the graphs, too. Me likey.
Rating: Summary: Best Herbal 'Bible' anywhere! Review: I've owned this book for about 15 years, and it's one I DON'T lend out to anyone! It's one of the most comprehensive, well written, best organized books I have ever had the pleasure of referencing. If you're serious about learning about herbs, this is the book for you! I've refered to it many times to learn herbal properties, as well as looking up herbs for certain ailments. I can't praise it highly enough!
Rating: Summary: One herbalism book Review: If you only get one herbal book, this is the one to get. I have owned, used and abused this book for about six years. It is very thorough and has a very wide range of herbs along with "recipes" for specific conditions. I love this book so much I gave one to my mom for the holidays.
Rating: Summary: This book has good and bad points... Review: To an experienced, and or practicing herbalist this book has a lot of good information as to dosages and other items. I would recommend this book to anymoderate to advanced student of herbology. If you are a beginner, or justcurious, then there are farbetter books out there for that purpose. This book is not a primer, or an introduction. As a side note, I must state that thebook "Back to Eden" by Jethro Kloss is a source ofa lot of the material in Santillo's book. Mr.Santillo amplifies a lot ofthe material from Back to Eden and catalogs itbetter, so if you have or plan to get Back to Eden, then this book should be a definite companion to it. And vice versa, Back to Eden fills in alot of the items Mr. Santillo insufficiently covers. I say if you're gonna buy one, get the other. Together, they make a wonderful, reliable foundation of knowledge to draw from regarding herbology and natural living.
