Summary: An old idea no one every talks about
Review: The points he makes are valid, backed by fact in the writings of Locke and Freud. A wonderful book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Psychology: Science, Practice, Tool, or Weapon?
Review: This is a work to be strongly considered for university courses in ethics, philosphy of psychology, and ethics in psychology. Professor Justman adroitly pulls together the historical roots of contemporary psychological practice to call into question not only its epistemological foundations but the endeavors (i.e.: clinical and commericial) that lay claim to its supposed authority and the cultural consequences resulting from their application. Arguably a more precise place to start, as opposed to Locke as Justman does, is with Aritotle's Nicomachean Ethics. All in all this work is an accessible depiction of the disparate and fragmented paths that the field of psychology has taken in contradistinction to the utopian dreams resulting from the Enlightnment.
