Summary: History, Art, Chi, and Style
Review: All of tthe things names in my title are aspects of this book that make it greatly useful and informational. If you want to learn about Chinese Gong Fu then this is a great place to start, and also great for the experienced martial artist. I raed a review of someone on this book that greatly disturbed me, which is why I am writing my own review now. This person claimed that this book taught techniques that were of poor defensive and of no value, lackin gof power, and lacking strenght. This person is not a true martial artist if all he sees in the martial arts is power and strenght even though he is wrong in saying that this bok does not show it. The techniques in this book are extremely useful in developing a true martial artist spirit, internal and external. The person claimed the stances were weak and could be knocked over easily by a "toiugh oppenet" I would love to see him or anyone else try to take on anyone in that book, even though that is against the martial artist way.
Be aware or reviews such as that one. They are written by NON-martial artists with no experience in true Gong Fu, or any martial style for that matter. They are concerned only about fighting, which makes them weak and defensless against any true martial artist.
This book is fantastic, purchase it definatly if you are into the martial arts.
Sorry for spelling and grammer errors, in a hurry and no time to correct them. Just wanted to say all this.

Summary: Great Kung Fu Book With Lots of Pics ..
Review: I love this book the moment i got it from Amazon.com. Long Fist Kung Fu is graceful and beautiful yet powerful and deadly. This book is filled with pics of stances and application of various stances in real fighting. It's a must have for all beginners to the art of chinese kung fu. i would suggest this as the basic text for all newcomers to Kungfu. Chinese Kung Fu is more graceful and flexible than most Japanese Martial Art Forms. The only fault i find with this book is that the all pics are not taken from the same angle .. this can be a little confusing for beginners..

Summary: Not what it's cracked up to be
Review: I've always been a fan of kung fu and have always found it to be an effective fighting art. But some of the stuff in this book is quite questionable. The pictures are practically useless as all that is shown are flicky kicks that could never harm a tough opponent and useless punches that prolly woldn't have great efeect, that is, even if they hit. The stances shown are laughable. How easy it is to get taken down in one of those stances is ludicrous and the power behind your stances will leave something to be desired. Every stance that is built for speed lacks power and every stance built for power lacks speed. You'll find some useful information in the book and some interesting background, but if it's realistic training you want, I suggest you look elsewhere.

Summary: There's a reason it's consistently on recommended lists
Review: There's a reason why this book is consistently on people's recommended lists for Kung Fu. It offers a nice and concise history, explains basic stances, punches, kicks, and covers
some sets (although kind of hard to follow, nothing beats live
instruction.) you may encounter if you choose to study Northern
Shaolin Longfist. Pick it up if your a beginner, have it in
your personal library if your not because it is a great resource for the art you study.

Summary: Kung-Fu Ground Breaker
Review: This is absolutly worth buying if you can find it. Yang Jwing-Ming in my veiw is a fine author and I aplaud him for poring so much of his knowledge into text, he has writen many books on Kung-Fu and I have never been disapointed with a single one of them. I wish that more martial arts masters would take such a progressive aproach in sharing martial arts information in text. I hope that Yang Jwing-Ming continues to do so.
