Rating: Summary: above average for the self-help genre Review: A reasonable good book that -- like most "self-help" type books -- makes the assumption there is something wrong with the way people are, then proceeds to tell you how to "fix" yourself... More or less common sense (i.e., one has to take specific, positive actions to sustain self-change), but better than the average. I simply resent the implicit premise -- that there is something wrong with you the way you are... I my opinion there is not...rather, we CHOOSE to make changes to improve our circumstances... the SELF remains the same... inherently good.Cheers.
Rating: Summary: Dream, Plan, Live and Optimize! Review: Dream it, plan it, live it is a time tested strategy that has been discussed in many positive thinking books during the past decades. Debbie Ford breaks down these steps into simple decisions and makes the task easier. This is a worthwhile book if you have not formed the habit of dreaming, planning and executing. If you are serious about making this the best year of your life, read Optimal Thinking: How To Be Your Best Self as well. Optimal Thinking is the language of our best self and by using it, we choose our best option in each moment and create our best life. It stops us from settling for second best.
Rating: Summary: Extraordinary woman gifts you an Extraordinary life Review: I have just purchased 50 books today and purchased one last week. I bought these books because Debbie speaks in a language and conveys a perspective on life that has been life altering for me. The community she has created with all of you, I found extraordinary and you have all been a gift to me.
I feel fortunate that I will be able to give 50 people this book and I hope that they will have even the smallest piece of what I have learned since I started working with all of you a little over a year ago.
Rating: Summary: WOW! Review: I love this book! I always ring in the New Year with the best of intentions, but can't seem to find a way to make them stick. This book has quickly become my go-to, re-read every morning, 110% fool-proof guide to making my resolutions happen. I feel more inspired than ever to make a commitment to improving my life. I'm SO grateful I found this book, and have already recommended it to anyone and everyone who wants to make '05 the best year yet.
Rating: Summary: AN INCREDIBLE JOURNEY Review: I love this book! Take your dreams, your desires and take a journey to their completion. I have put a plan into action from reading Best Year. What is exciting is that Debbie teaches you how to find the feelings that you would have if your goal was met,and how to feel like that now. It is so much easier to reach a goal when you are enjoying the path. No more waiting. If you have failed to reach a goal in the past or just simply did not enjoy the journey, this is the book for you. Enjoy the journey! It is Incredible!
Rating: Summary: Are you ready for change? Review: I really enjoyed Ford's empowering message for motivating action!
I want to "make over" my whole life, including the need to lose weight so for Christmas I asked for Debbie's book along with Deborah Low's, "Quest for Peace, Love and a 24-Inch Waist" and have discovered that both authors support the same thought processes--very motivating and inspirational--answering the question, "how can I stay committed to my dreams and goals?", with practical, inspiring advice.
Since completing them both, I am able to see my life as a creative, ever-changing experience of which I am in complete control. If you need to make overall changes in your life, get Debbie's book but if you need to make peace with your body and lose weight, get Low's. If you can afford both, do it.
Rating: Summary: Wow Back To You Review: This book has helped me dream, plan, and live it up.
It will help you too.

Rating: Summary: Great tools for the New Year Review: This book provides a great set of useful and easy to understand tools for building a fantastic New Year. The way that the book is structured- dream it, plan it, live it- allows the reader to see where they want to go, develop a plan to get there, and monitor their progress along the way. I am buying copies of this book for all my employees and recommending it to friends.
Rating: Summary: Spelled Out Simple Steps Review: This book was a wonderful gift that I recently received. It's not so much new stuff but spelled out simple steps...that's what's missing in so many books today. Some readers don't get this as well as many editors and book publishers. We don't really need NEW information, we need the "old" tried and true rules explained well in simple terms. Not because we can't commprehend fluff and long winded babble in most books, it because we are busy and want to know how to do it, when and what works -- AND why! This is an excellent resource to get your life back on track. Also suggested: Mommy CEO, a family/health book which is a perfect compliment to this book if you are a parent or grandparent. It also spells everything out due to a busy society. These are the types of books that make an instant impact and changes in a life, whether it's yours or your families, which is really your emotional well-being in moving forward to accomplish personal goals. Want to succeed in 2005 --read both books and follow the detailed simple plans for success.
Rating: Summary: One of the best self-help books I've read Review: This is the first time I've read a book by Debbie Ford, and I am truly impressed. I had heard of her book, "The Dark Side of the Light Chasers" from a good friend, but I never picked up a copy. When author Marianne Williamson (whom I respect and admire very much) recommended this book, I'd thought I'd have a look... Especially after a long, tough, and not very fruitful year in 2004, I was ready for some powerful changes in my life. This book is concise; I read it in a few days reading a few chapters each day. Yet it is filled with the information, tools, and yes, inspiration I needed to set myself on the path of having the best year of my life. If Amazon would let me, I would give it 4.5 stars, but since I have to choose between 4 and 5, I'd definitely give it 5. When I've mentioned the title to some people, they ask, 'well, what about next year (and so on)?' That's one of the greatest things about this book, and the thing that makes the title a bit of a misnomer; it's really about having the best LIFE of your life, but simply broken down into a much more manageable timeframe for reaching your goals. It makes much more sense this way. I have two big goals for this year, and a vision for what I want my life to look like and be. Thanks to this book, (as well as my own determination) I know I'll make the best of this year, and every year thereafter that I am blessed to have on this earth. I have highly recommended this book to all of my family and friends... And now to you!
