Rating: Summary: Christian Book Previews Review: "The once pimply-faced, tin-grinned teenager named Eric Ludy together with his wife Leslie have written When God Writes Your Love Story to help teenagers understand guy/girl relationships. This husband and wife duo believes teenagers need to know God's view on romance to prevent physical and emotional damage in their lives. "The Ludy's are bestselling authors who travel around the world speaking to groups about Jesus Christ and purity. The authors believe that young people need to develop inward excellence, high standards, faithfulness, courage, and the desire to follow God's will in the area of sexual purity. For example, Leslie tells several stories on how the world is filled with opportunities for so-called 'safe sex' and sexual freedom. She reveals that every time a boyfriend dumped her, she felt that part of her was given away and there was a little less for her future husband, Eric. Practical advice is given to avoid these pit falls and to help develop proper, godly relationships. "This book was extremely interesting. I couldn't put it down, even to go to sleep. It was easy to read and offered humorous and embarrassing moments of both Eric and Leslie, which lightened the subject matter. Every teenager should have the opportunity to read When God Writes Your Love Story. I highly recommend this book!" -- Jessica Loughner, Christian Book Previews.com
Rating: Summary: This is THE BOOK! Review: Anyone who is tired of going relationship to relationship and not knowing how/why each failed needs this book. This is a life changing book and it helped me to leave my past relationships in the past and focus on becoming a better individual before sharing my life. It challenges you to put your life into perspective, focus on God, and wait for His choice to come to you. When God Writes Your Love Story should be in everyone's house, even if you are too young to be thinking of marriage.
Rating: Summary: Great encouraging book Review: I could not relate to this book at all. One thing I noticed is that whenever they referred to anybody, to make a point, they always stressed how handsome, or pretty, or smart the person was. All their friends they used as examples in the book were these nice, attractive people with exciting lives. It was like they had to make sure that you understood that these above average people have trouble finding perfect love too. It's not just the lowly, unwanted people that we might think this book was referring to. So, they place themselves in this upper class and made it clear so you did not think they were the lowly. Besides, only these people will have perfect love stories. They used people who were not young and pretty or attractive as negative examples. They made it clear that they did not want these types of people in their pretty little lives. These people would not have a perfect love store. The woman, Leslie Ludy, excepted the fact that she should wait on God for a husband but did not want to except that fact that she may have to wait until she was older, 32 to be exact, or that she may end up with a below average guy. She referred to him as being Elmer Fudd. But what about Elmer Fudd? Doesn't he deserve a perfect love story too? I suppose it would be OK if he found a Mrs. Fudd just like himself but he is not allowed to touch a Leslie Ludy. She even complained that her husband's last name meant nerd in Japanese. That bothered her. They told a touching story about a man who met a woman through the mail. He didn't know what Harlyss Maynell looked like until the day he met her in person. He was led to believe that she was an undesirable, unattractive, older woman. It turned out to be a test. A beautiful woman, who was the real Harlyss, instructed this undesirable woman to wear a rose, which would identify her. Why was this woman chosen? Because she was undesirable. She was someone you obviously would not be attracted to or she would never have been chosen to wear the rose. That was a huge insult. What about her love story? Doesn't she deserve one? Leslie also mentioned that she invited her parents to help her in choosing a husband. Once again, she pointed out that being below average is not accepted when it comes to love. She was afraid that her parents would bring home Alfred Fluffinguffers. I guess Alfred does not deserve a true love story. When her perfect husband gets old and undesirable and his handsome camouflage deteriorates, exposing his true nature, maybe she'll wish she had Elmer or Alfred. Sorry Eric and Leslie Nerd, I mean Luddy, your book definitely was not written for the Elmer Fudds, the woman with the rose and the Alfred Fluffinguffers of the world. I've been single and pure for 36 years. I don't need this book to help me. Where are you, woman with the rose?
Rating: Summary: True love still exists Review: I must disagree with [another reviewer], this isn't for perfect people. Both Leslie and Eric have made their share of regrettable mistakes in past relationships before meeting each other. They've both learned that God forgives and doesn't look back. First of all God doesn't play any favorites, so don't think that you're not important to God because you are. Check out the book "The Purpose-Driven Life by Rick Warren." And fathersloveletter.com When God Writes Your Love Story, talks about regrets that people have made like abortion, premerital sex, etc. There's still hope even for those of us that have messed up big time. It's not easy, but true love still exists and if you trust God, He can make things happen. Anyone reading this whatever your situation in life, don't be discouraged, pick up this book, read it, and apply it. There is this section in the book of getting godly guidance from godly people. You can still get things right in life including your love life.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful and Insightful Review: I really felt that God led me to this book. I have struggled with realtionships for years and years, now I feel like I have a solid understanding of what it takes to "let go and Let God!" I especially enjoy that it was an easy read. It felt like they were talking to me.
Rating: Summary: Christian Book Previews Review: I've read and reread this book a million times... It never fails to get your heart back in the right place!
Rating: Summary: Some good stories but mostly fluffy Review: The book has some good insights and definitely goood intentions, but I found it to be fluffy and surface-level reading. If I'm reading a book about how to give God control of my life it needs to contain strong arguments based on biblical fact instead of only illustrations. The concept is good, but needs marrow to add strength to the milk.
Rating: Summary: Unrealistic and horrible! Review: The Ludy's have a nice story, but how realistic is it for the rest of the world? I really can't take preaching on my life, love life, and purity from a girl who was homeschooled and then married right out of highschool! Their experience is too unique and does not apply to anyone I know. I just graduated from college and am not married yet, so obviously, I'm too old for their outrageous, unreal advice to apply to my life. They do not have the life experiences most of their target audience does, so how are they qualified to talk about how to live life? There are better books out there by people who actually are qualified to talk about purity, love, and life.
Rating: Summary: MUST BUY!!!! Review: This book has to be the best one I have ever read. This book is amazing. God works wonders throught Eric and Leslie Ludy. Every single person must buy and read this book. This book offers the most beautiful look at love and how God intended it for our lives. Although to some guys this may sound all mushy or whatever, its not! This book is for guys and gals. There were so many questions about my love life and whether my expectations for a guy were to high, every single one of my questions were answered. This book should not be borrowed you have to buy it. I'm planning on reading this book many more times, becasue it has helped me through so much. God answered all my qustions through this book. Again I say every single person should buy and read this book right away!
Rating: Summary: The way it should be Review: This is the best book that the Ludy's have written thus far. It's better than When Dreams Come True. Besides at the end of the chapters, there are some reflections and bible verses to ponder and think about. The basic message is to give your love life to God, and I must say that their message is the best that I've ever read. They cover practically everything, what to do when you're still single, how to get your family involved. Its wonderful, I read it when I'm down and need some encouragement, and its become my favorite romance book. Instead of reading another Christian romance novel, I just read When God Writes Your Love Story. Its wonderful to know that true love can exist in our society. Its one of my favorite Christian books and I reccomend it to all of my friends, because its that good. The book also comes with a cd single, and I must say that the song is very encouraging. I trully believe with what the author's say, their message is very biblical. Instead of handling your life, including your love life on your own, just give it to God. If there's one dating/courting book to read, its this one. One thing that I came away with is that its not easy, we must seek God on our own and learn how to hear from him, and that there aren't any formula's. I think as Christians, we like to have a formula, some kind of system and they just reminded me that in the real world, there are none. Everyone's love story will be different.
