Summary: a must for parents of autistic children
Review: As a parent of an autistic child, I cannot reccommend this book enough. I have read more books than I care to remember on autism. This is the BEST ever written. It has a consice, easy to follow format on all the cutting edge medical treatment that is helping my son and thousands of others.
If you are a parent of a newly diagnosed child, you will read this book, highlight it, reread it,and use it as a constant resource. I wish this book and all these treatments were around when my son was 2. He is 7, but continues to make improvements that never would happen without the medical interventions listed so clearly in this book. I hope Dr McCandless published a Part 2 for any new treatments that come along, and I know they will.

Summary: Best book for sharing with your pediatrician
Review: I found this to be a very concise and easy to read explanation of what is going on in the immune systems of kids with autism spectrum disorders. While much of the information is a review for the seasoned autism parent/researcher, it is also an excellent guidebook for those parents just beginning that difficult journey.
Unfortunately, in our day of advanced medical treatments for many diseases, the understanding of autism hasn't progressed much beyond the "Refrigerator Mother" theory. If everyone would share this book with their pediatrician, therapist, etc., perhaps we could change that so that more children would be healed.

Summary: Promising, but not yet there
Review: If you can only read one book about biomedical interventions for autism, read this one. Dr McCandless has effectively described the most useful treatment processes for autism and pdd, in both a concise and informative way.We have been treating our son biomedically for several years, we've put in many hundreds of hours of research, visited many physicians and eventually and fortunately distilled our research and treatment to the protocols described in this book. And it works - our son has made enormous gains. Autism can indeed be effectively treated biomedically, and this book is the best on the subject I've yet seen. Causation theories, dietary interventions, heavy metal chelation, vitamin supplementation, viral problems and treatment, yeast and bacterial problems and treatment, and much more are all covered thoroughly. Summary: My Personal "Bible"!
Review: In this book, Dr. McCandless walks you through all the latest biomedical treatments for Autism Spectrum Disorder. It pieces together valuable treatment information into one easy-to-understand reference guide. I have utilized the knowledge I have gained in helping my own son who in three months has gone from two words to 25+ words and counting. I am truly indebted to Dr. McCandless for sharing her knowledge and expertise in this area. Anyone who has a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder and wants to help that child progress would greatly benefit from reading this book.

Summary: A must read for people struggling with Autistic SPECTRUM
Review: This book is the answer for starting to cure your child who has an Autistic Spectrum Disorder. What is Autistic Spectrum Disorder? Think of any disease or syndrome that is caused by chemicals in the brain not working correctly. My 5 year old was diagnosed with PDD (Pervasive Developmental Disorder, a lesser form of Autism) and ADHD, since doing the tests recommended in the book and beginning the usually very simple and safe treatments, our daughter has made huge leaps in development and displays much less autistic behavior than she used to. This book provided hope in my darkest hour, and the books advice has followed through with real results. I've spoken with many parents whose children have lost their ASD diagnosis using the treatments in this book--we are well on our way. Hooray Dr. McCandless!
