Rating: Summary: A unique contribution to eating disorders literature Review: For 10 years I was lost in the world of my eating disorder and then in 1988, I met Viola Fodor, a psychotherapist. She spoke to me about many things, such as true self, inner wisdom, meaning in life. What she told me helped me to turn my life around and heal completely from my eating problem. She's now encapsulated the essence of her teachings in this remarkable book, which doesn't talk about acting as if you're okay or positive affirmations. No, this book deals with the process of real profound change. The kind that happens from the inside out. The kind that leads you to your true self. It tells you how to tap this essential process (and we all have this capacity) so it stays with you forever, guiding you through the most difficult challenges in your life, including an eating problem.
Rating: Summary: A beautiful walk through the shadowlands of our minds Review: I have read the first edition of this remarkable book by Viola Fodor. I highly recommend it to all those who wish to learn more about themselves and how to deal with their inner feelings. Having an eating disorders is not the only reason to seek out this book. All of us can be guided by it. I look forward to seeing the next edition.
Rating: Summary: Ok, but not a cure-all Review: The majority of this book is spent giving reasons to incorporate quiet time or meditation into your daily life, with a few pages at the end of how to do it. While these techniques can be extremely helpful in treatment of eating disorders, this aspect alone will not "cure" most bulimics in my opinion, and there are certainly better books out there on meditation and relaxation techniques.
