Rating: Summary: Feng Shui for Love Review: Most reviews I have seen written are about Decorating or Harmony in a home. Personally, I want to find a compatible mate and could care less what my home looks like.In a last ditch effort to find the "perfect man", I picked up this book on a recommendation from a friend. I was throughly intrigued by the descriptions in the Nine Star Ki and especially the sections titled "Relationships with other people". I found myself going.... "this makes sense" and "no wonder it didn't work out with that one". I have not at this point found "true love", but am enjoying looking, however, I was able to establish that my ex-husband, who's Nine Star Ki was a complete DISASTER with my own, is now married to someone that matches mine ! looks like he is destined to repeat his mistakes ! I have recommended this book to all my girlfriends and most have bought it ! Thank You for writing a simple to read book for us looking for balance and harmony in our love lives !
Rating: Summary: Even I can understand the basic principles of Feng Shui ! Review: My girlfriend dabbles in Feng Shui and I didn't have a clue what it was all about. At Christmas time, I was going to surprise her with some Feng Shui Items... but didn't know what to buy. I went to the local store and picked this book as it looked like a good book for beginners. I couldn't have been more correct. After reading Ms. Fretwell's Book, I now understand a number of principles of Feng Shui and WHY there are certain items in my home and their meaning. I also surprised my girlfriend by being able to "converse" with her on the principles. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a basic understanding of Feng Shui in an easy to follow format. I especially recommend this book for us "boys" out there who have no idea what the women in their lives have been talking about. I would further recommend for any of "us" who would like to score "extra points" with the women... BUY THIS BOOK, wrap it up and give it to them.
Rating: Summary: I get it now - Simply and Basically explained Review: My sister is what I would call a Feng Shui "Person". She has been trying and trying to explain Feng Shui and its principles to me and I just haven't really given it much credence. My sister bought me Ms. Fretwell's book and asked that I read it. To be honest, the selling point on the book was that Ms. Fretwell is a local author and I always try to support my fellow Virginians. However, after reading the book, I can now say "I get it". I am glad I sat down and took the time for something that was important to my sister, but even more surprised as the presentation of Ms. Fretwell's book. For someone like me, that didn't want to waste their time and was somewhat forced into reading it, this book was perfect for me. The layout and table of contents outlined the approaches and the chapter breaks allowed for me to put the book down and come back at another time without feeling that I had to backtrack through the book to remember where I was. I would recommend this book to any novice Feng Shui person as its simple and basic approach led me to an understanding of the principles behind this latest craze. Not that I will ever admit it to my sister, but I did buy some pink lightbulbs for my house.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely wonderful Review: Sally Fretwell's, Feng Shui:Back to Balance, is absolutely wonderful. Her explanations of the basic principles are clear, easy to understand, and sprinkled with stories that bring them to life. The book is well organized and beautifully presented--a great example of good Feng Shui. My husband and I were so impressed with Sally's common sense approach to the topic that we asked her to consult with us on the design of our new home. To Sally, Feng Shui isn't about rules dictated by some expert, but it is about empowering us to get in touch with our own ability to sense these universal principles and gain balance, peace, abundance and joy in our lives.
Rating: Summary: Reach your potential in your physical space Review: This easy-to-read non-fiction is hard to put down. Ms. Fretwell takes a fascinating subject that is traditionally hard to follow in books, and puts it into a perspective that I can use in my own life, and in my work as a Realtor. There is such truth and insight into her work. In a very few wors she is able to convey large and confusing concepts about feng shui and the nine star ki personality types that come together and have great meaning. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to make easy improvements in their quality of life.
Rating: Summary: Use some common sense instead. Review: While I do not practice this Feng Shui I was curious and so I bought the book, and basically what we are dealing with here is common sense. Most people know if a room feels right and if not that maybe changing the furniture, colour etc will work better. Feng Shui is also something that is supposed to deal with the art of order, but some of the places I have seen with Feng Shui in action are cluttered. Take a basic class at your local junior college on what colours and objects work best in ones environment. Like never paint a room that faces north in a cool colour like light blue since this will make the room even more colder.
