Review: I read this book early in my HUNA studies, and did not know enough to spot the errors.

Since then; I have taken the HUNA course from HRI (HUNA Research Inc.), read every HUNA related book I could lay my hands on, and gained first hand HUNA experience.

Here are three errors that bother me the most.

1. the author implies that Jesus and the early church practised HUNA (Also one of Max Freedom Long's errors in logic). It's true that the early church did energy work, but that does not necessarily mean they practised HUNA. I studied Qigong (originating in China), Reiki (originating in Japan), Seichim (originating in Egypt, HUNA (originating in Hawaii), and others. I am trying to say that energy work has been practised EVERYWHERE.

2. The author misnames the three selves (or spirits) associated with a person. Unihipili (ku), Uhane (lono), and Aumakua (Kane). Ku, Lono, and Kane are three if the gods Hawaiians acknowledged.

3. The author lists seven aspects of a human being. This is in error. There are Ten aspects of a human being.

three spirits (Unihipili, Uhane, Aumakua), three aka bodies for the three selves, three voltages of Mana (Mana (used by the Unihipili); Mana mana (used by the Uhane); Mana loa (used by the Aumakua), and the physical body. 3+3+3+1=10

If you are interested in HUNA; I would suggest that you look elsewhere.

"Fundamentals Of Hawaiian Mysticism" Charlotte Berney

"HUNA Magic" John Bainbridge

"Hawaiian Magic And Spirituality" Scott Cunningham

"The Secret Science At Work" Max Freedom Long

Please see my complete list of HUNA related titles.

I encourage questions and comments about my reviews; Two Bears.

Summary: An important work for mystics
Review: People who are in the know about the Aquarian Age and the upcoming demands on the psychic advancement of mankind, will find this a great learning manual. Compare these to the works by Hawai`i-based author, Robert B. Stone, _The Power of Miracle Metaphysics_, and _The Magic of Psychotronic Power_, which also involve the reader in activities towards a result: the improvement from within and how to live your life more "deliberately", as Thoreau would have had it... Look at it this way: you could fill your head with TV shows and movies; you could study astronomy or geology for a lifetime; but will these *make you a better person*? Think: How best to spend my precious time on this earth? Watching back-to-back beer and soloflex ads on the tube, or getting your hoo-hah together and moving forward into the future with extra knowledge obtained from vantage points only *you* have traversed? Learn Hawaiian at the same time...the occult parts of a very nature-oriented language that is rife with double-meanings, and within it you will find the secret of your own mind in the beauty of the blossoming of the simple flower. Study, meditate, study, meditate...Malama Pono Mau Loa

Summary: Fun and it works....
Review: While I don't claim to be a master of what Huna "should" be, I will just comment on some of the useful things that I enjoy about this book.

I like things that do what they claim they will. As simply as possible, the results I get when I apply the Huna principles within Mastering Your Hidden Self are the results that are claimed I will get. That's good enough for me.

As another reviewer elegantly stated, there is a nice "description" of how the "subconscious" works.

From someone without a degree in Huna (myself) this book is very helpful in making changes.
