Rating: Summary: Great book! Review: "Ecstasy Through Tantra" has been my companion in spiritual work for the last several months. It is full of knowledge about Tantra and spirituality in general, explaining the esoteric meaning of numerous symbols in fascinating detail, describing magical rituals, and also offering practical exercises, particularly for couples who want to proceed on a spiritual path together. It is a relationship-friendly book, helping us to see our partners as divine beings, and introducing us to the wondrous world of sexual magic. The book contains many attractive illustrations, including "The Asanas of Love", and a whole set of chakra mandalas for contemplation and meditation. "Ecstasy Through Tantra" is a celebration of eroticism and sexuality in a spiritual context.

Rating: Summary: Pleasure equals happiness? Review: Honestly, has anyone acheived happiness through sensations? Granted, we experience some brief enjoyment, but inevitably, disappointment arrives... Those who seek happiness through sensations are always disappointed: that is why we have the symbol of the Satyr. The Satyr is focused on sensations but he is never content... Be sincere with yourself and realize the truth of this in your life: you can never find happiness through supposed "ecstasy" - you may find a brief moment of escape from the problems, but when it is over you are left with the same problems. This is not Tantra. Real Tantra provides the complete transformation of suffering. One cannot transform suffering so long as one has desire. Desire is the root of all suffering. We suffer because we do not have what we desire. When we get what we desire, we suffer because we are afraid of losing what we desire. There is no contentment. Contentment comes when the desire has been removed; then there is nothing missing, there is peace, joy, the true ecstasy of the Consciousness. This is the freedom of the soul: to be free of all selfish desire. This can be achieved through radical work on oneself. Real happiness comes when there is no anger, no pride, no lust, no fear... This is what real Tantra teaches, and this knowledge cannot be found in this book. This book will teach you to deepen your dependence on sensation, to deepen your lust, to adopt practices whose true purpose you cannot see, and to make you more of a slave of desire... To find the true teaching, read the works of Samael Aun Weor (The Perfect Matrimony, The Mystery of the Golden Blossom), the Tibetan Buddhists, the Buddha, Krishna, Jesus... they all agree: there is no happiness so long as the ego lives in us.

Rating: Summary: Excellent, helpful, and fascinating Review: I highly reccommend this book. It describes the background and philosophy of Tantra without losing the reader. It also provides a guide to Tantric practices, with pictures and instructions, which are easy to follow and positive. This book will show you how to achieve new heights of happiness and enligtenment with the help of a loving partner or alone, although most of the book is geared towards couples and how to work together. I think any couple that reads this book together will benefit their relationship and their individual psyches.
Rating: Summary: Who knows the True Secrets of Tantra? Review: Tantra is ritual. Ritual is a transformation or exchange of energy. But all energy in nature is a POLARITY that can be Positive or Negative: and here is the catch. Western Tantrikas have been grossly deceived; everyone thinks that this flood of Tantric books represents the best of Eastern Tantra: but the truth is precisely the opposite. The best and most powerful Tantra has always been fiercely protected, because the modern human mind is so degenerated and unstable it cannot absorb the true Tantrism. So the flood of Tantrism has been brought by those who seek to take advantage of the naive public, and they have done an extraordinary job. The public now believes with fervor that Tantrism is the Yoga of Lust, the Yoga of Orgies, the Yoga of Masturbators. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Tantra that is coommonly taught in Yoga studios and the thousands of "Esoteric Tantra" books is pure BLACK Tantra, the degenerated sciences of the Lunar Path. So nowadays we have a proliferation of supposed "experts" who enthuasiastically teach others to expell the sexual energy, all the while ignoring that this is a crime against humanity and a crime against all that is divine. White Tantrism is the science to awaken the positive fire of the Kundalini; it ALWAYS and without exception teaches to renounce desire and the orgasm. Black Tantrism is the science that teaches how to awaken the negative Kundabuffer through the orgasm. Both speak of Love and Truth. Both speak of Self-realization. Sex is the way to ascend, but it is also the way to descend. It all hinges on the use of the sexual force. One can awaken as an angel or a demon. But consider: who has lust? Who has anger? An Angel has transcended instinctive desire. An illuminated Master has been purified of lust, fear, pride, envy, anger. A demon embodies those qualities. For more information, read "The Perfect Matrimony" and the other books by Samael Aun Weor.

Rating: Summary: Discover the Path to Bliss! Review: The true spiritual nature of sexuality is revealed in Ecstasy through Tantra. Our sexual nature is the key to Divinity, it is a joyous celebration of our True Self. Dr Mumford has written an exceptional text that provides the means to returning the transcendental to sexuality, and yet remains true to the philosophical roots of Tantra. It melds the esoteric nature of the East with the practicality of the West into a path of spirit-based sexuality that is accessible to all. Tantra is more than Sacred Sex, and Dr Mumford draws on his vast knowledge of mysticism and occult practices to bring a greater understanding Tantra to Western readers. His commentary on the Shat Chakras contains a wealth of information on the esoteric symbols used by Tantrik practitioners in ritual and meditation. A book for all those who wish to bring Divinity and (w)holiness to all aspects of their lives.
