Rating: Summary: Publishers Weekly is way off. Review: As the author of this book, I am responding to the Publishers Weekly review of my book on Yogilates. This reviewer must have never read any yoga or Pilates exercise books before if they can't manage to follow the simple instructions that I have presented in this book. Compared to most other mind/body fitness books, I wrote this book in a straight-forward way with clear and simple instructions even a total beginner could understand. Perhaps the reviewer doesn't want to have to think about breathing or alignment while exercising. Even so, these are easily followed (inhale during one move, exhale for the other). Moreover, there are several chapters before the exercises start that explain philosophical background, how to check your flexibility, and establish awareness of basic movements. These chapters will add to anyones' overall understanding of Yogilates and help prepare the reader for a safe and effective practice. My hope is that people will ignore this reviewer's completely off base comments and see the book themselves. I feel I can safely guarantee that you will find it to be written in a user-friendly manner. And you will also find the photos and models to be clear and serene, not grim at all. Thank you and Namaste, Jonathan Urla, Author
Rating: Summary: Perfect! Review: I have studied yoga for many years, and this book is one of the most informative and easy to read for me. It is laid out extremely well, and also extremely readable and easy to follow. It was particularly helpful in the beginning on how to breathe properly and how to test flexibility and alignment. Everything was easy to follow and I love the combination of both yoga and pilates. This is exactly the mind/body fitness system that I have been searching and I finally found it! A real winner!
Rating: Summary: Well done And Bravo!! Review: I have taken Mr. Urla's class in the past and I find the written work to be as complete as all of his previous work including his tapes. I can recommend this text/manual highly. Especially if you are trying to figure out Pilates, Yoga what is the difference? Jonathan continues to teach this work thoroughly and I look forward to his future work. For all NYers find out where he is teaching next and get there.
Rating: Summary: Publisher's Weekly, are we talking about the same book???? Review: Mr. Urla's book is clear, concise and well illustrated. The instructions for each exercise are easy to follow with pictures that clearly show the postions being described. Even as a beginner in the practice of yoga/yogilates, I have had no problems figuring out what to do. This book works well with Mr. Urla's exercise videos, which put the individual exercises together for a smooth, flowing workout. I highly recommend this book and the videos to anyone who is interested in learning this terrific form of body conditioning. If you want to read a bit more about Yogilates before spending any money go to Mr. Urla's website at www.yogilates.com

Rating: Summary: Well done And Bravo!! Review: The visual appeal of this beautiful book is matched by a simple, easy to understand text. I feel as if a personal trainer is sharing his mastery with me. Especially helpful are the flow of photos and the extra comments he calls "refinements". The "Yogilates" videos make an ideal program together with the book.
Rating: Summary: second to none Review: this book is extremely well written and easy to follow for anyone who has the desire to learn pilates and/or yoga. while it is usually more effective to meet with an instructor, if the instructor isn't Jonathan, buy this book. having taken a workshop with the author, it would be difficult for me to be instructed by anyone else, therefore having this book to refer to is completely necessary. I encourage anyone who has the desire to do something that will give incredible results, to get this book and follow it several times a week. you will not be disappointed!
