Rating: Summary: Terrific guide to a better world, one person at a time! Review: Just saw a copy of this, and WOW! There are plenty of self help books, but this one starts and ends with the big picture and the difference that a life well lived can make! They cover all the essentials in an intelligently funny manner that should benefit just about everyone!
Rating: Summary: Not about digging, about LIVING! Review: This book doesn't waste the reader's time with theorizing over why certain life choices are made a certain way. There are plenty of books and counselors and therapists willing to do that! Instead, it provides a comprehensive set of skills and strategic approaches to intentional living. Ultimately, applying this material is up to the reader. But if you want to make the transition from reacting to circumstance to living intentionally, everything you need is in here, from getting clear on your values and purpose in life, to changing your habits so they support your values and purpose, to developing attitudes that give you needed resilience when life hands you a reversal, to cultivating a support system of friends and allies, to developing intimacy with your significant others, to making your contribution to a better world. If you're looking for depth, try looking inside. If you're looking for a way to improve the quality of your life and the quality of your choices, this book provides an excellent and comprehensive approach. These authors keep delivering quality material without the theorizing, explaining, defending and justifying that keeps people stuck in the 'why' mode, because they focus their writing and ideas on the 'how' mode of living.
Rating: Summary: Not about digging, about LIVING! Review: This book is a (somewhat) humorous attempt to deal with a serious issue. However, in the end it falls short of being truly helpful. What's missing is depth. While there are suggestions and a few exercises, these do not dig to the depths necessary to really understand your life choices and why you have made them. I would only recommend this book to those that are mildly dissatisfied with their current situation. If you're ready to take a hard, serious look at your life choices, try "Conscious Living" by Gay Hendricks.
