Summary: Reconciliation
Review: Dr.Beth Hedva's first book helped me on my Journey (through the stages) from Betrayal to Trust. Her revised edition has added much more with an emphasis on reconciliation. The added material makes this a significantly different book than Journey from Betrayal to Trust; hence it is not merely a 2nd edition. It helped me reframe many betrayals in terms of reconciliation and is a must for all who found value in her first book. People of Aboriginal decent will find new material for them. In these difficult times of terror and war her book provides a frame work for healing the world community that we so desperately need.

Summary: Radical Therapy
Review: Emotional darkness, the nightmare of betrayal... are
these fodder for the psyche? According to Dr. Hedva,
the stage is set for a sacred initiation, moving from
one cycle of personal evolution to the next. A strong,
heart-centered case is made for the radical
transformation that moving through the experience
of betrayal can trigger.

A shocking, yet spiritually empowering argument
is put forward, defining the stages of both pain and
growth that the process of granting forgiveness
engenders.

Many aspects of betrayal are addressed. All the
significant relationship dynamics are explored,
leaving no doubt that the author knows what she's
talking about. Also, the tender area of self-betrayal
is probed, but leaving us feeling that hope and
regeneration are indeed possible.

We are guided through the death of innocence to
the rebirth of vitality and full aliveness. Using the
exercises provided, one may find that a
compassionate spirit has laid a stable path for
us to follow.

Summary: Betrayal, Trust, And Forgiveness
Review: From the moment of conception, it is inevitable that we will both betray and be betrayed. Dr. Beth Hedva suggests that we deserve more. Through the vehicle of her book, Dr Beth Hedva enables us to heal our betrayal wounds, re-learn trust and then forgive, not only others, but most importantly, ourselves.

This is an amazing book, written with incredible perception and a deep understanding of humankind, whilst drawing from the wisdom of the Kabbalah, Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Carl Jung and more.

Dr. Beth Hedva writes with lucidity, in a language which is readable and intriguing. She addresses her theme from several different perspectives... from betrayal of the mother and father, to betrayal of society and the planet itself. In these untrusting times, I would urge everyone to read it, not only from a personal perspective, but from a collective one. As a psychotherapist, I have found this an invaluable text.

As we move away from September 11th, there can be no book more relevant, with its chapter on Betrayal and the Planet, in which the author apocalyptically suggests that,

'man-made disasters give people of all nations the opportunity to act collectively'.

Such is the power of her written word, that when Dr beth Hedva writes,

'...with the aid of both inner and outer resources we can intuit our way through darkness towards the light of a new dawn',

we begin to believe that together, we will actually find our way through the murky shaddows of our present time, to create a new world.

Betrayal, Trust and Forgiveness offers realistic paths towards healing inner pain. It re-frames betrayal, and enables us to understand, that within the often vicious circle of betrayal and trust, it is forgiveness which enables us to finally break free.

This book is the ideal gift for friends and colleagues, be they in need, or on a path of personal growth and development. It is also a wonderful present to give yourself.

Summary: Healing the Wounds and Forgiveness
Review: I have known Dr. Beth Hedva personally through the years as a person with a deep feminine and heart consciousness.

In writing a book it is difficult to translate what you do so well in person as a therapist and teacher. Dr. Beth Hedva has accomplished her goal in this book. If you ever get the chance to meet with her or attend one of her workshops, take it! But in the meanwhile if you want to do serious study with yourself or understand your relationships better, then you would do well to buy her book and work with its perspective.

Dr. Beth Hedva is right on because she works with many people on the issues in the book, and she includes many true stories how her students, friends and clients are living their lives.

If you do not deal with the wounds you receive in life you are quite likely, as every psychologist knows, to go on wounding others, even if not intentionally. I am sure you do not want to do this in your life.

If you go over the list on page 170, for instance, you will be able to make a comparison about yourself. Are you self-accepting or self-betraying? This theme alone is well worth the effort to work on. But there is a large list of 34 of these opposites to check yourself out with. Very practical and very real.

The "Five Gates of Power" on page 72 are the Physical, the Emotional, the Mental, the Spiritual and the Integrative. Working with this list and its descriptions shows you how to learn the lessons of your experience, know when you are in and out of balance, understand what you need to do for self-renewal and realize what you then give to the world.

Dr. Beth Hedva also has chapters on your world view, which is a keen interest of mine. What is so important about your world view is that usually your first world view is unconscious and influenced by parents, society and the truamas you have had. But when you work on yourself consciously you build for yourself a world view, a picture of reality, that uniquely fits you and the real world you live in. With this more real picture of who you are and where you are going you then have much more chance to become effective and fulfilled in life and to act in such a way that others are fulfilled in relating to you.

There is so much here in this book. I shall be working with it myself as a mirror both to my soul and to conscious living. It is a true mirror for me of what concerns Dr. Beth Hedva most. I am already checking myself out and finding ways to be a better person through use of this book.

As a teacher of consciousness myself I find this book useful and grounded, as well as inspiring. Try it out. Buy it and work with it a little at a time or take a week's vacation alone simply to read and work with this book to reorient your life. -- Strephon Kaplan-Williams, author of the Dream Cards and other books in Jungian psychology and dreamwork

Summary: Be Aware of what you are buying
Review: I purchased this book after carefully reviewing all of the customer reviews, however, I was very disappointed. The book focuses on healing via tarot, runes, crystals, I Ching, astrology, numerology, synchronicities, dreams, guided imagery, chanting, prayer, ritual and even channeling. If these are the methods you are interested in, then this is the book for you. If, however, this is not something you believe in or want to dabble in then this book is a waste of time. The author has done intuitive readings for many of the people in the book prior to putting them in her book. It came off as very hokey in my humble opinion...So know what you are getting into when you make this purchase.

Summary: This book changed my life.
Review: Thank you Dr. Hedva. Your book changed my life! I had been trying to recover from a betrayal. Not a little betrayal but a life transforming betrayal. The kind of betrayal that you remember the rest of your life, that rocks your world and makes you question everything, most of all yourself. After a year of seeing a therapist and going thru the process of shock, crying, grieving, guilt, anger and depression, I still didn't feel like I was "myself". Then despair started to set in because I became afraid that the heartbreak was too big for me to heal.
One afternoon, while waiting in the dentist's office, I picked up a newspaper with a review of Dr. Hedva's book. The review was positive and the quotes resonated. Later that day I bought the book and couldn't put it down until I finished it. For the first time, I felt that someone really understood my pain. And most important in that moment, it gave me a sense of hope for a full recovery. The book reframed the experience to help me see it as part of my spiritual journey, a valuable lesson to help me become stronger, wiser, and better able to forgive others and myself.
Betrayal, Trust and Forgiveness addresses all types of betrayals (lover, mother, father, body, self and society.) It is not a "help the victim feel good" book. It is reader-friendly, clear, and direct, providing practical tools and exercises to help the reader understand and move forward.
If you have been searching for a way to heal a betrayal, you are not alone. This book is a powerful resource that can help. It was the answer to my prayers.

Summary: In Depth Healing
Review: This is an excellent treatise on the spiritual meaning of
betrayal. I was very impressed with the counseling techniques
in this volume and the real understanding of the heart-
breaking experience of being betrayed. Rather than being
another "boo-hoo, I'm such a victim" sympathy book, the
author encourages us to take personal, spiritual
responsibility for our experience. A variety of archetypal
symbols are addressed that give deep insights into a much
fuller meaning of betrayal as initiation. A truly healing
discourse.

Summary: Enlightening!
Review: When I read the book and put the initiation process into practice, I discovered so much about myself, through the exercises and by using my intuition, my Observer, and synchronistic guidance. When I joined a group of other people on the journey from betrayal to trust and forgiveness, the impact was even more profound. In service of humanity, I can help guide others on this journey of initiation knowing that it will be beneficial to all. Beth Hedva has woven magic throughout the pages of this book that will transform the reader on all levels of consciousness. Thank you, Beth, for including the Tips for Trainers in the Appendix so that I can take the initiation process to a new level with other people.
