Rating: Summary: Be Your Best Self Review: All success, happiness, love, peace of mind and wealth are traceble to the 14 ideas, shared in "The Greatest Salesman in the World:"1. Master the art of living not for yourself alone, but for others as well; 2. Prove to yourself that you can endure the life of a salesman; 3. Believe in the quality of what you are selling; 4. Make your determination to succeed so strong that failure couldn't possibly overtake you; 5. Be fully in the present moment; 6. Choose love as your greatest weapon, no matter what; 7. Persist in what you believe in; 8. Celebrate your uniqueness; 9. Each morning, enthusiastically wake up saying to yourself, "Is this my day to excel?"; 10. Master your ability to fully process your emotions, in the present moment; 11. Enjoy at least one deep belly laugh a day with someone else; 12. Multiply your value each day, by 100; 13. Take actions on your dreams, now; and, 14. Instead of wishing or praying for something, ask for guidance to manifest this into your life. And, having read this book again, 12 years after having first read it, I am pleased to see how I have and have not applied the lessons. If you've read this book before, or others that have guided you to add value to your life, read this now, to chart a new path on your journey to be your best self.
Rating: Summary: One of the classic business parables Review: For those who enjoy classic business parables like the "The Richest Man in Babylon" by George Clayson, "The Baron Son" by Vicky Therese Davis, and "The Alchemist" by Paolo Coelo, they will certainly find interest in "The Greatest Salesman in World."
Like the other works, it has been translated around the world and brought joy to the hearts of many. "The Greatest Salesman in the World" is the first, and by far the best, in Og Mandino's trilogy including "The Greatest Secret in the World" and "The Greatest Miracle in the World."
As the title would imply, it is the ancient story of the world's greatest salesperson whose passes on his secrets of success by bequeathing ten scrolls to his protégé.
The Scroll Marked I, Today I begin a new life - Form good habits and become their slaves
The Scroll Marked II, I will greet this day with love in my heart - Show love and compassion to the world and you shall find it returned
The Scroll Marked III, I will persist until I succeed - Persistence will bring you success
The Scroll Marked IV, I am nature's greatest miracle - Love yourself
The Scroll Marked V, I will live this day as if it is my last - Seize the day
The Scroll Marked VI, I will be the master of my emotions - Live courageously and do not fall victim to fear and disappointment
The Scroll Marked VII, I will laugh at the world - Appreciate each situation and do not take life too seriously
The Scroll Marked VIII, Today I will multiply my value hundred fold - Find ways to create value for others in your exchanges
The Scroll Marked IX, I will act now - Act decisively to achieve success
The Scroll Marked X, I will pray for guidance - Renew yourself through a connection with God
In summary, it is an inspirational story that is wonderfully told in a spiritual and principled tone that you will be sure to enjoy.
Rating: Summary: Touching and Life changing Review: I bought this book about 6 years ago and read it once. A few days ago, I re-read this book and when I read Scrool II, suddenly tears started flowing and I didn't even know why. It touched me so deeply, bringing back memories. On the same day, I went to look up my old files and inside I found the same text of the scroll but in different language. I think it is a sign that I have to start living with the principles Og Mandino has set out in this book, especially scroll II..I will greet this day with love in my heart. It is really a powerful, motivational book that you need to carry with you all the time. If you read it once and not very impressed by it, I suggest that you read it again and again until the messages start to get into you. You'll enjoy this book to the fullest :) Success be with you!
Rating: Summary: How to read this book Review: I don't know if I misread the instructions or if I'm the only one who actually followed them. If you follow scroll I, it should take you the better part of a year to finish the rest of the book. Following that, I'm only 2/3rds of the way through scroll II (I got the book a couple of months ago, but didn't consistently follow scroll II daily and at the 16-day mark, decided to start again at day 1). I can definitely say it has changed my life, and even the lives of those around me (most of all a person I work with who is hard to get along with and hence gets along with no one--except, now, me, and it really has seemed to make his attitude at work more positive overall). Though difficult at first, it quickly became easy to apply the first principle, and finally find myself easily "making people your greatest resource" as so many *other* authors suggest you do for success in life, although it is not specifically suggested in this book. I have gotten a half dozen new and better job offers in the couple of months since I started the book, accepted one of the first ones and am currently in the process of exploring the others. I see all these "couldn't put the book down till I finished" and I think, wow, you went a year with a book in your hand? Personally I'm still in considerable suspense waiting to see what scroll III says, let alone the entire rest of the book!
Rating: Summary: personanonxista@optonline.net Review: I first read "The Greatest Salesman in the World" in August 1973. I have read, since that first reading, and will continue to read, all 10 Scrolls every morning for the rest of my life. I recorded the 10 Scrolls on cassette in my own voice and listen to it in my car as I drive to work and again on my return home. Ralph Waldo Emerson said we become what we think about. The 10 Scrolls are what I think about. There is something heroic in the way salespeople make their living. If you are one who cannot fail because you have nowhere to fail to, the Greatest Salesman will guide you on that road that winds uphill all the way to very end on the day's journey that lasts from morn to night, my friend. Og Mandino and I spoke often in 1979 and the years that followed before his return to the loving Father, the actual Author of the Greatest Salesman, who sent him to us. If everyone could read this book at once,we would all become like story book children walking hand in hand across the meadow.
Rating: Summary: An inspiring novel Review: I had my first Southwestern summer this year. I sold books door to door for 12 weeks. I don't know if it is possible to comprehend inspirational books until you fail at something. I thought inspirational books were great before the summer, but not until I began selling books door to door did I realize the true meaning of "Persist until you succeed," or "Quitters never win and winners never quit." I like the book. I read each chapter six times, one each week. I used the topics as positive affirmations. I found it necessary to feed my mind as well as my body because I found I become irrational when I fail at something. I also liked the story part of the book. I can't wait to read the sequel.
Rating: Summary: OUTSTANDING!!!!! Review: I would suggest anyone dealing with sales to read this book! This book shares so many great jewels while still entertaining you. This is a small book that can make a big difference!
Rating: Summary: First Book of Sales Review: If you are tolerant/smart enough to embrace or get past the Christian references in this book, and you are in the business of Sales, then this book should be on your shelf. No amount of sales training--tactical or strategic, linguistic or psychological--will help you unless you have first acquired the habits, behaviors, and heart of the Greatest Salesman. This is what Hafid teaches us. I currently have a private library of about 3000 books. Og's little volume is the one I'll rescue should my house ever catch fire.
Rating: Summary: The Greatest Motivational Author in the World Review: Og Mandino's classic tale is not just about sales. It is a living, breathing manuscript about life, written with God's love and a testimony to Mandino's own rag to riches tales. For those who have not the luxury to meet with a mentor or a life coach, Mandino's series of "Greatest..." will certainly come as a close second. Start off with Hafid's tale in Salesman, then Salesman II. After which, trail Mandino's curious journey with ragpicker Simon Potter in Miracle, The Return of the Ragpicker and Mystery. His skills are based on the Autosuggestion technique so results may vary from individual to individual. However, Mandino's engaging style, backed by his personal experiences make his timeless tales delightful to read as stand-alone inspirational fiction.
Rating: Summary: Speechless Review: These are the types of books I've been searching for for years. When I read this book I had to stop once in a while just to cool down my excitment.
