Review: Buy this book for yourself, your family, your friends. Help raise awareness about the crime of human trafficking. Mr. Malarek's account of the young girls, children in many cases is harrowing! This book will shock you, it will apall you and hopefully it will instigate you to act! There is NO other book like this on the topic of human trafficking. Mr. Malarek interviews the young victims, he accompanies police on raids where victims are held captive, he uncovers the hiding of this humanitarian atrocity by our own government. You MUST read this book!

Summary: Shocking
Review: Having traveled throught Western Europe, Eastern Europe (CIS), Moscow, and St. Petersburg, I have seen many of the subjects of this book in hotel bars, on the streets, etc. I have always assumed that they were "doing what they have to do" to support their financially ravaged families at home. My assumption was way off. This book was an eye-opener. I am amazed that such evil (the slave trade) still exists in our 21st century world.

Summary: Absolutely Shocking.
Review: I found the book "The Natashas", by author Victor Malarek to be a very compelling and disturbing book to read. I was utterly shocked to read about what is happening in our third world countries today, regarding the "trafficking" of young girls and women from the USSR and Eastern European nations.
The most disturbing aspect that the author Victor Malarek brings to light is that nothing much is being done about the selling of women and girls from the Russia/Ukraine provinces. He points out that there has been a few "raids" on brothels and bars, but beyond a few of these raids, there is still a lot to do about the selling of women and girls illegally in Eastern Europe.

My only criticism with the book is the repetition of the three nations that are involved in the trafficking of these women. Every few pages one reads "Russia, Ukraine, & Moldova". Towards the middle of the book the reader knows that these nations are the ones heavily involved in the selling of women, and the repetition is unnecessary.

Bravo Victor Malarek! I could not put this put down. It is a gripping book; and a global concern that everyone should be aware of, that is happening in the world today.

Summary: As The Parent of a Daughter ....
Review: This is an astounding book. We have all seen 'ladies of the evening' and with a certain sadness we see them as victuums 'doing what they have to do.' This book discusses instead the white slavery market that has developed with the collapse of the Soviet Union. I can't think of any better way to describe the situation than the blurb on the back cover: "You can buy a woman for $10,000 and you can make your money back in a week if she is pretty and she is yound. Then everything else is profit."

The book is written by a multiple award winning Canadian investigative journalist. He reports on numerous incidents, numerous interviews with the people involved. This includes the women themselves, the organizers, the police, and various international relief agencies that are addressing the problem.

For those of us who are parents of daughters this is a most disturbing book.

Summary: A must read
Review: This very well-written book documents the endless nightmare that trafficked women have to endure. It opened my eyes to this huge problem and I will never be the same. Read this book and encourage others to read. The more people learn about this issue, the more these women will be helped. Contact the International Justice Mission if you want to help.
