Rating: Summary: I was hopeful, but I didn't expect it to work... Review: but it did! I got the book/CD from the library and I listened to the CD the night before Thanksgiving and haven't touched one since. I did listen to it again on day 3 as I was a little antsy that day. Overall I'm thrilled as it was my first attempt at quitting and it wasn't near as bad as I thought it would be. I'll be 2 months tomorrow :)
I reccommend this method to anyone who really wants to quit, and doesn't want a crutch (patch, gum etc) like I did.
Rating: Summary: It worked for me :-) Review: I bought this book with the intentions of giving up smoking as my new years resolution. I received this book in the mail on Dec. 23. I had 2 cigarettes left so I figured "why not quit tonight". I had 1 last cigarette than laid down in bed an read a little of the book, when it came time to listen to the cd I turned off the lights put on my headphones and just relaxed. I woke up the next morning feeling great. I knew I had 1 cigarette left in the pack, I broke it up and threw it out. I haven't smoked since!!!! A few times I had slight urges (nothing compared to the times I tried to quit before) I did the breathing excercises as instructed in the book and they really work. I've been smoking for 12 years, the past 6 years I've been smoking a pack per day. I've tried many times to quit before with no luck. I strongly urge anyone looking to quit smoking to buy this book.

I have not smoked since although I have gained weight, I am a non smoker and don't even think about it any more. I think it will help someone that really wants to quit.
Rating: Summary: Buy this if you really want to quit Review: I enthusiastically recommend this book to anyone who wants to quit smoking. It worked for me! I am a real person and I gain nothing from recommending this book to you -- except the satisfaction of knowing I may have helped someone. I was a pack-a-day smoker for about 12 years, and I tried every method of quitting. Two weeks ago, I read this book, then listened to the CD before going to bed. I woke up the next day with no cravings! I did have brief moments of irritability, but nothing compared to the mood swings I experienced during past attempts to quit. I have been smoke free for two weeks, and I have no desire to smoke. It's a miracle if you ask me. If you're reading this review, you know how difficult it is to quit. And you also know how important it is for you to succeed in quitting. Try this book and CD! One caveat: This is not magic; you must really want to quit. You can't be wishy-washy about it. And it has to be for you. Not because someone is pressuring you to quit. Also, the simple breathing exercise suggested by the author really helps. So make sure you use it after you quit. Good luck! You can do it!
Rating: Summary: I quit...nothing else to do Review: I got the book from the library. I wanted to quit. You HAVE to want to quit otherwise your brain wont let you do the self-hypnosis. If it didn't work for someone, it is because they didn't really want to quit deep down. I was tired of smelling. I was tired of not being healthy. I was tired of always losing my breath. And, I only had a few smokes a day. I wasn't even a hard core smoker. I took the book home and used the cd. I used the cd as I went to bed. I woke up the next morning and realized that I hadn't smoked on my way to work. I didn't even want one. It was wonderful. Almost two years later and the story is still true. It is totally worth it. If you do try the cd before bed, be sure you are not exhausted or you will fall asleep.
Rating: Summary: I was skeptical, but it worked! Review: I had a pack a day habit for about 18 years. Made several attempts to quit in the past. From going cold turkey, to the aid of the nicotine patch. Needless to say, they all failed for me. This program though, has done the trick, and it was so easy. All you need to do is have the desire to quit, read the first half of the book, and listen to the CD. That's it! The first half of the book explains and prepares you for the program. The CD is the hypnosis treatment. The second half of the book contains facts about smoking which will reinforce your decision to become a non-smoker. You read the first half, or the whole book first, (which only took me about 30 minutes). You than decide when you are ready to begin the program. When you are ready, you listen to the CD. (I did this at night, before going to sleep). You will than have no desire to ever smoke again. The second half of the book you review at your convenience and follow the breathing excercise for the next 3 days. What has happened is incredible. I'm a non-smoker, and I can't beleive it was so easy and painless. I recomend it 100%.
Rating: Summary: Did not work Review: I read this book and listen to the CD,but I still could not stop smoking. I was so excited to try this program. I have listen to the CD at lease 5 times and still I want to smoke. My husband also tryed this and he is still smoking. We really want to quit but this did not work.

Rating: Summary: An excellent tool Review: When I read the reviews for this book, I thought, great. I don't have to go to a hypnotist. This book was very interesting and informative, and the CD was soothing and reinforcing. I would buy it again. Ms. Hepburn's voice and words, and the background music couldn't be more effective. I was a smoker for 32 years and was never able to quit for more than 4 hours. Did this book/CD do the trick? No, it was one of a combination of the armory I used to kick this addiction. She's right. You make the choice to smoke, then live with it. I know now that after trying everything available to help me quit, there's no magic pill, book, or patch that will make quitting any easier. These will only assist you in your effort. This one helped me. I'm three weeks quit tomorrow (11/11/03), and I know that this book was a large part of my recovery. Buy it only when you're serious about quitting, but if you're looking for a magic pill, there isn't one. It's the toughest thing I've ever taken on, and after three weeks, I couldn't be more proud.
