Rating: 5 stars
Summary: really helpful
Review: I had heard about this book and so I bought it when planning my wedding. It is even better than I anticipated-the authors are not only funny but they basically cover every single thing you might need to know about planning a wedding and any of the other parties associated with it. While it is not a "tacky" budget wedding-book ( and some of those I looked at were hilarious!) it does give good ideas on how/where to save money and still have an elegant wedding.
I can't recommend it highly enough!

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: typical of its genre--long on ideas, short on reality
Review: I thought this was a good deal like a lot of the wedding books I bought for my recent wedding. It has lots of cool ideas and much good information on wedding planning. What it *lacks* (like so many other books) is *any* sense of proportion: the sense that most brides are working with a limited budget and have limited time that they are willing to devote to the wedding planning. Come on--for most of us it's a wedding, not the invasion of Normandy! Perfectionistic princesses have enough wedding planners. What we need is one for the rest of us. The only book of that type I've seen is "Weddings for Grownups," which I DO unconditionally recommend for all brides.

Summary: A life saver
Review: Informative, simple to use, a real time saver. When my wife and I started planning our wedding, we didn't have a clue. We also didn't have the money for a professional planner. Thank god for Ms. Blum and this book. The advice made the whole ordeal a snap. We couldn't have done it without her. Now my wife is contemplating a career as a wedding planner herself. Thank you Marcy.

Summary: A plethora of information for the bride-to-be!
Review: Marcy Blum knows weddings backwards and forwards. She has planned numerous society weddings and shares all her secrets in this book. This book covers everything from politically correct invitation wording to negotiating with your caterer. The tone is incredibly witty and humerous. This is an irreplaceable tool for all brides-to-be who plan to take on the monstrous task of planning their own wedding. The nuts and bolts information will show you how many square feet of dancefloor you'll need as well as how many martinis your guests will consume. This book is a treasure buy it for yourself or anyone that is planning a wedding!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: No question, the best wedding book around
Review: Weddings For Dummies is the only guide you'll need to making your big day perfect. The authors have a sensible approach and they provide all the details and tricks of the trade that would take a lifetime of wedding planning to learn. If that wasn't enough, the material is presented in a easily accesible format and with enough humor to keep things in perspective. A great gift for the bride (or groom) to be. Get an extra one for the parents. They'll thank you for it. You will get a big return on your investment in this book. I practically wore the covers off of mine.
