Rating: Summary: Reader from NY is wrong Review: .... I have beenreading Lillian's Books since she first came out with her Basic FengShui book (in 1997) and I dare say that she is a phenomenal writer. No other feng shui book I've read in the market compares with her books in terms of price and value for money. AS far as I am concerned, her books keep getting easier to read, and each new book focuses on feng shui from a different angle. If you've read her older books, you'd notice that her new books include constant research on better and easier feng shui cures that make more sense than the average "break down your walls" concept that other feng shui books propose. This particular book is WONDERFUL! I have a shelf collecting nothing but her books and as long as she keeps writing, I will continue to buy her books. END
Rating: Summary: I find this book extremely useful, clear, easy to understand Review: Contrary to what the other reviews pointed out, I find the book to be clear in presentation, easy to understand and is truly a step-by-step guide. The movement of plants and furniture around in the house are absulutely optional. There are many ways you can work with feng shui other that blending the 5 elements. Try colours, try decorations, try even keeping a pet! I have re-arranged my new home in Germany. I am Chinese and my husband is German, but he found the outcome of my rearrangements to be fascinatingly beautiful and soothing to the eyes. In the end, our home turned out to be favourable to the harmony of the 5 elements, and yet appealing to the eyes aesthetically. I suggest readers who aren't satisfied with the book to give it a second chance. Read through it again and see what can be implemented, what cannot be, then select your own ways to change your home for the better. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in using feng shui to better their relationships, health and prosperity.
Rating: Summary: Should be Titled : How to Repeat the Same Thing to Make $$ Review: Don't waste money , if you have read her 1 or 2 books earlier. I bought 4 last year but learned nothing new , so returning this one .
Rating: Summary: I really enjoyed this book Review: ESSENTIALS is the first feng shui book I have read and it has me well and truly hooked !! Lillian Too writes clearly and honestly. And I might add - interesting as well. Where solutions can be found she offers them. Other times she warns against bad feng shui so that where possible we try to avoid such situations. whats wrong with that ? I am amazed she even bothered to reply to this reader from California whose rudeness is uncalled for. I agree with Lillian that it is obvious what needs to be done to cope with shelves. Because the book helped me so much I am recomending it highly to anyone who wants an excellent and concise clear Introduction to the practice of feng shui.
Rating: Summary: not practical Review: I felt this book was too engraved in oriental culture. With all the moving of plants and suggestions of painting my house every color in the spectrum and sleeping so my head faced east, I felt the book was turning me into a fearful neurotic. My house will look more cluttered than ever. THERE ARE MORE UPLIFTING BOOKS ON THE SUBJECT.
Rating: Summary: LILLIAN's MY HERO Review: I think every book Lillian Too has written is so fabulous.I have been interested in feng shui for the past 3 years now and have read many books on the subject, but nothing beats Lillian's. She makes the subject so accessible, so common-sensical and I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in improving their lives through feng shui. We love you Lillian!!!!

Rating: Summary: I got married because of this book! Review: I've been single for 10 years since my previous husband's passing and I picked up this book in the bookstore by chance. I cannot believe how the tips in this book have changed my life for good. Since activating my romance corner with a candle every night, I've found my dearest husband Sidney and we just got married last month. i've never been so happy! THis book is so simple and effective - I can't believe I paid such a small sum to gain a lifetime of happiness. Many thanks to the author of such a wonderful book!
Rating: Summary: Lillian's advice and suggestion work for me Review: While browsing many feng shui books in bookstore's interior design section, I found her books to be more easy to read and understand than most other books. I bought them Online. But one word of advice, Lillian's books tend to be very similar from one to another. So I would advice people to browse at bookstore and choose the one they want and buy online to save money. Don't be overwhelmed and feel obligated by following All her advice. For example, I improvise on some of her suggestions. Let's start with romance sector, I couldn't find wooden Mandarin Duck, so I downloaded the image and hang it in SW corner. I got a Pair of swan as wedding favors and put them in SW corner too. I put cloth and bags that are yellowish-brown to accentuate earth tones. Guess what? After all these years, my sister who lives with me finally found a great boyfriend shortly after Feng Shui changes. They are in serious discussion of marriage. For career, I got pictures of sea turtle on a website and downloaded it. I put it in the north wall of my living room. Above the headboard of my bed, I put a picture of mountain for support while I sleep. Did the same thing at work. I even put trophies and awards in south wall along with Chinese red envelopes for fame and recognition. Ever since the change, I've become much busier at work. I do notice my boss and the higher up take notice of my hard work. I was commended for my skills and knowledge, that I am my boss' right hand woman! But above all, DO clear your clutter at home & at work before implementing Feng Shui. No fantastic Feng Shui will work if you have piles of junk and unsightly clutter. By the way, for anyone who live close to New York City. The NYC Chinatown has a large selection of Feng Shui enhancers at moderate to expensive prices. Walk along Mott Street (Start from 10 Mott St is an alley of Chinese gift shops), you will find wonderful selection of goodies. Don't limit yourself to just Mott St. There are gift shops, though less concentrated, on other streets nearby. I designate one weekend per month as my Chinatown shopping day for tea, herbs, dim sum and fun. It's like visiting a foreign country without flying on a long flight. Maybe I will see you there.
