Summary: IF YOU CARE ENOUGH,YOU CAN LEARN WAYS TO SHOW IT...
Review: Doe Lang has researched and laid out in "street smart" language some of the learnable and usable qualities that make socializing fun and effective. No wonder she has been translated into 8 languages.I keep her book in my office and move the marker around while working on the exercises. They really work, and friends and acquaintences appreciate the renewed vigor I have when dealing with them from some of these fresh perspectives. Real fun is to learn a skill from her like using the tone of your voice more consciously and effectively to set the mood of a conversation and experience the magic that happens. Then when you are better you notice that a lot of people you like and admire obviously have a good grasp of what Doe calls "toning" This is just good deep fun and a meaningful step in the evolution of our human culture.

Summary: Dr. Lang Offers Real Techniques For Positive Change
Review: Dr. Lang has the rare combination of being both satisfyingly profound and entertainingly engaging. This is quite an accomplishment and I know for a fact that it could only be possible through real spiritual work over a long period of time.

Trust me. This is a valuable book. It is for people who really want to *do* something and to see actual changes happen in their lives. This is NOT for people who want to sit in an armchair and only *think about* change.

At some point along the path of development, we learn that central goals in the promotion of well-being are relaxation, adaptiveness and moderation. Whatever methods enable us to achieve these goals will be effective and powerfully transformational. Dr. Lang's work offers many, many such methods- reality-tested and refined over time. All that remains is to begin practicing! Good luck!!!

Summary: "Fabulous-- but about charisma?"
Review: Gaining or improving ones level of charisma is an exciting concept. I do believe that the author has a very high degree of charisma. Her writing style is impressive and compelling. Her overpowering use of metaphysical programming in order to achieve charisma seemed off-track, although intriguing. subjects such as proper breathing and speaking were highly pertinent and interesting, but I feel the same as I did after reading another book on the subject. The author pushes her seminar throughout this book. Perhaps one would become more charismatic after attending. Becoming charismatic is an elusive quality. Overcoming fear. Now that's the way to reach charisma. Again, this is a wonderful book, including--but not based on the virtue of charisma.

Summary: Exercise after exercise
Review: I expected this book to do a deep analysis of what charisma is, and to study it based on the experience of leaders who most people would agree have some type of charisma. Instead, this turned out to be a self-help book about how to gain it, without ever showing that the techniques presented are really effective from any standpoint(scientific or otherwise).

I had the distinct feeling while reading the book that I was being convinced to take up yoga, rather than charisma. When I bought this book, I was skeptical that charisma could be taught; I am now even more convinced.

Summary: Great Book, May seem strange at first.
Review: I think that this was a great book to read. You could learn a thing or two even if you didn't learn anything else throughout the whole book. It has alot of motivational words it has to say and i tried some of the exercises that it suggested. Some seemed strange and odd to do but others seemed like it was a great thing. I adjusted some of the exercises to fit me better.

I think in order to read this book and to fully enjoy it you must come to it with an open mind and to let yourself feel not to shy to try some exercises.

Summary: Garbage in, garbage out.
Review: I'm writing this review because I disagree strongly with the review of Darryl Porter, who says that this book is just filled with "silly exercises." He's missed the point entirely. I've had the book for several months now, and though I'm only half-way through it, I reap the benefits of the exercises everyday.

If you're looking for "insight" by just flipping through the pages, as Porter apparently did, you will be sadly disappointed by this book. To really get the full benefit of what this book has to offer, it's not enough to pass judgment on the exercises and call them "silly." Once you give them a try, and apply them to your daily life, the value of this book will become clear. The exercises might make you feel silly--at first. But if you can bring yourself get past that, you'll experience your true charisma beginning to break through.

Summary: A self-help book
Review: It is good that author discuss a lot of evidences and examples in the book. Through these stories, you can easily understand how to become a more charming person. Also, it provides many useful techniques such as presentation skill and the ways to release stress. I think it is very useful in our daily life. However, I think some of the exercises the author suggests are silly to me. It is difficult for me to do it public. So, if you really want to try it, you should find a suitable place, like your home, to do it. Anyway, I would recommend this book for all of the people who work or live under pressure.

Summary: No help here
Review: This book didn't give me any clue about how to become more charismatic. The basic premise of the book is that we need to stay in tune with our bodies. This book provided many superficial physical exercises that seemed completely unrelated from the subject at hand. The author suggests that almost every problem can be solved by breathing deeply. If you belive this - by all means, go ahead and buy the book. For me, it was hard to weed through the wordiness, and the disconnected and jumpy chapters kept me from focusing. In summary, I'd say that this book simply doesn't give any real solutions for gaining charisma.

Summary: "Water in the desert."
Review: This is a suberb book on a difficult topic. Personally, I believe that Charisma is a spiritual intangible, but Doe Lang does touch on how to bring out exactly that in your own life. The old axiom: "You either have it or you don't" about charisma doesn't apply with this book. Doe Lang gives example after example, and exercise after exercise, about how ordinary people can tap into that magic lantern of charisma that lies asleep within each of us. A scientist, she explains many of her techniques in modern scientific terms and examples; a creative artist, she demonstrates the process through many examples and exercises. I found her process to work. This book is like 'water in the desert.'
