Summary: This book may just be answer to a woman's prayers.
Review: "When women complain about the "big C," they usually mean the reluctance on the part of the men in their lives to make a commitment. As he did, with humor and style, in "She's Having a Baby -- and I'm Having a Breakdown," James Douglas Barron offers men his empathy and solid advice in "She Wants a Ring -- And I Don't Wanna Change a Thing." Having feared commitment, taken the leap and kept the faith (all without the help of a book like his), Barron says, from one guy to another, that this book "will guide a man through his commitment fears, maintain his commitment through the engagement period and the wedding and help him keep the zip in his marriage." Intended for men, this wise and wry book may just be the answer to a woman's prayers."

Summary: On the Money!!
Review: After 18 months over dating , I thought I would give this book to my boyfriend in hopes he could come to a decision about marriage or the possibility in the following year. Before this everything was fine! After I put this PRESSURE on him to think about what he wants, etc. He BOLTED and cheated on me- something that is not even natural for him out of total fear!I think the realtionship is over for good now because I could not wait until HE WAS READY to do this on his own- Don't make the same mistakes I did- throw out "the Rules" and these other manipulative this that tell you how to make a man marry you and give ultimatums. Any time you use these tactics you are taking a risk they will backfire on you. I would do anything to take back what I did, but it is to late (probably) and I will have to learn from my mistakes.

Summary: Excellent Information!
Review: Found this book to be insightful and really to the point. Reading it was like having conversations with a lot of my commitmentphobic male friends who have been in long term relationships and found this and eye opening piece. Where was this book months ago when I could have really used it with a commitment-shy guy? Not only does it go into detail about the psyche but also ways of overcoming them.

I'm sending my copy to a good friend of mine who has been in a relationship with a nice woman for 4 years. Many of the scenarios in this book have been played out in their relationship and I think it could be a valuable tool for them both.

Thanks for this one Mr. Barron.

Summary: A Fresh Voice with Fresh Thoughts
Review: Usually I cannot be found within five miles of a "relationship" book, and I picked this one up only when urged to (threatened) by a friend. And there went my preconceived notions, out the window. This book is enchanting. It is reassuring. If all men were as savvy as the author, there would have been no need for him to write it. As it is, he provides an illuminated, conscientious guide to navigating the process of making a commitment to another human being. I'm grateful too that this book came out in paper, so that I can bend it, mark it up, and afford to loan it to people. Read on!
