Rating: Summary: One of the best books I've read Review: After being told about this book by my daughter, my wife and I read it and decided to incorporate the eating and lifestyle changes recommeded by Dr. Malkmus. What a difference in our lives. I have lost almost 15 pounds and my wife has had similar results. More important however, we both are feeling so much better with more energy. Not bad for only 25 days on the new eating plan. This book should be considered by anyone with health problems.
Rating: Summary: Yikes! I thought this was a cookbook.... Review: Gods Way to Ultimate Health was not what I expected. Only 10 pages out of 279 were pages with recipies. It was a huge disappointment! It was one big baptist sermon.
Rating: Summary: GOD'S WAY TO ULTIMATE HEALTH Review: Gods ways are not our ways. This lifestyle is hard to adapt to but well worth the effort. Health and vitality are waiting for you. I highly reccomend this book.
Rating: Summary: The Real Review Review: I am familiar Dr. George Malkmus writings. This book has a great deal of information dealing with testimonials, medical science, and a personal testimony of Dr. Malkmus' life. This book probably is more complete than his other book-"Why Christians Get Sick," but "Why Christians Get Sick" is more focused on the single issue.
Rating: Summary: Life Changing!!! Review: If I could recommend just one book to introduce someone to the rawfood approach to eating this would be it. It is a well written, bible based book but with plenty of scientific evidence demonstarting why it is best to eat this way and why cooking destroys most of the nutritonal value of food. It also has hundreds of personal testimonials of those who have improved their overall health and many who have overcome so called "incureable" diseases using this method. Since adopting this approach to eating along with juicing a few months ago, I have lost almost 15 pounds and have experienced a wonderful surge in energy. Without reservation I will suggest this book to anyone looking to improve their health and quality of life. An excellent companion book to this is "The Juiceman's Power of Juicing" by Jay Kordich which does a great job presenting the benefits of juicing and has many good juice recepies
Rating: Summary: Good Reading Review: In this book, Rev. Malkmus promotes his "Hallelujah Diet." He bases his diet on Genesis 1:29. Rev. Malkmus believes this verse teaches that we should eat mostly raw plant foods, with most of the diet being raw fruits and vegetables. It is true that raw fruits and vegetables are very healthy and that people need to eat more of these foods. And Malkmus does do a good job of pointing out the problems with the standard American diet. However, there are potential problems with the diet he advocates. First and foremost is that many people simply could not exist on such a diet as it supplies insufficient calories and nutrients. For instance, Rev. Malkmus presents what he eats in the book (p.92). It is mostly raw fruits and vegetables, along with some cooked foods at dinner, such as a baked potato, brown rice, or whole grain pasta. He also takes several supplemental foods he advocates. Altogether his diet probably provides less than 1,000 calories. Simply put I would starve following such a diet. I know as I did eat such a diet for a week as part of a "detox" routine. I lost five pounds and was ravishingly hungry by the end of the week. The detox was supposed to last ten days, but the hunger forced me to stop it after seven days. Now I know that the idea of loosing five pounds in a week sounds great to many people, but such rapid weight loss is generally followed by just as rapid weight gain when one goes off of the diet. The only successful weight lose program is one that can be followed indefinitely. Such is not the case with such a restrictive diet. Following such a diet for a week can be good to "clean you out," but to follow it indefinitely would simply be too difficult for many people. There are also some serious gaffs in this book. The worst is the claim on page 245 that the body can manufacture vitamin B12 from green leafy vegetables and sea vegetables. It is true that some kinds of seaweeds contain vitamin B12, but such foods are not common in the US. And in no way can the body manufacture vitamin B12 in a form that is usable by the body. This is vastly important as a vitamin B12 deficiency can cause serious and irreversible nerve damage. Anyone following a strict vegetarian diet like Malkmus advocates MUST take a vitamin B12 supplement. The overarching problem with Malkmus's book is he bases his entire diet on one verse of the Bible. Yet there is much else that the Bible has to state on the subject of nutrition and foods beyond this one verse. It is for this reason that I overview all of the relevant Bible verses in my book Creationist Diet: Nutrition and God-given Foods According to the Bible. It presents an easier to follow alternative to Malkmus's type of diet.
Rating: Summary: A solid approach to natural healing Review: Malkmus and Dye base natural healing on the premise that a diet rich in raw fruits and vegetables, and the elimination of processed "dead" foods, will result in the ultimate health. As an engineer by trade, I was critical of the basic cause and effect relationship that such a recommended diet may have. However, Malkmus and Dye have accumulated scientific test results and cataloged various studies used as supporting evidence of their theories. Having read this book and filtering through the religous overtones, may wife and I decided to implement this change to our lifestyle. I am in month number 12 of the dietary change. My weight has reduced from 177 lbs to 156 lbs. More strength, better nightly rest, no more prostate problems, no more heart murmur, clear complexion, more relaxed in daily actions. At 44 years of age I wished that I had read this book long ago! My wife has had even better results. I urge every person who desires to live on with ultimate hea! lth to read this book!
Rating: Summary: A Life Saver Review: This book has literally changed the life of my husband and myself. We turned our direction from getting older and accepting the fact that we would be sickly and need doctoring and possibly hospital care TO a life of energy, good health and total enjoying our senior years. We have more energy than most younger folks and have not been sick for 2 1/2 years. That is saying something! I would urge people to read the book, get on the program and follow it faithfully by giving it a good test. See for yourself what it can do for you.
Rating: Summary: Simple, Powerful, Convincing, Actually Works! Review: This started it all for me around January. A good friend recommended this book after she beat breast cancer by changing her diet! I knew then I had to understand the link between diet and health. I wasn't satisfied to read just this book but many of the others listed in the bibliography and others on biological medicine and others relating to the acid/alkaline balance within our bodies. I've been able to help my mother gain control of her arthritis and hopefully get her off methotrexate for good. I've been able to help my mother in law lower her cholesterol since prior strokes have made this an issue. And my wife and I have lost the weight we couldn't seem to shake and have been able to improve all aspects of our health and physical well being. If you have any loved ones who's quality of life you want help improve this book is a great start.
