Now in his 80s, people say Jack LaLanne looks and acts 50ish. Paul Bragg lived to 95, but didn't die of old age, he died body surfing in the ocean of all things. I've read several books on fasting and this is without a doubt the best one. If you've got the willpower to follow through on Bragg's instructions you can feel great and dramatically improve your health and extend your life.

Your mother will probably tell you, "oh darling, what is it you ate today, why don't you come home for dinner...", yet read on.I read this book in Russian translation, back when I was 20. That was in 1984, Moscow, Russia. After I read it, I regularly fasted, 36 hours every Friday or Saturday, and did a few 3-day sessions. After 4-5 years, I stopped regular fasting, and now am looking to start again. The book will tell you about some of the wonderful effects of fasting, and that it must be done with care. You may feel bad on your first tries, and if you feel really bad, don't be a hero: bail out. Try again when you can. Most importantly, don't eat anything heavy (meat, bread, etc.) for a day or two before, and then after the fasting session. Steamed vegetables work best for me. The effects of fasting when done properly (and it's not difficult), are: improved senses (hearing, sight, touch, taste), peace of mind and calmness, sense of humor (yeah baby!), disappearance of worries, improved confidence, sense of purpose in life. Your skin will get smoother and tighter, your eyes - clearer and brighter, teeth - whiter, your energy level will shoot through the roof. You will feel way better about yourself, and you will find that more people are getting attracted to you and staring at you in public places. And that's just the side effects of what I guess you could call - I don't know - happiness? This isn't of course a universal answer to all problems. It's just one of the possible ways, one of the steps, but very effective, very powerful, if not the most effective out there. It helped me, big time, to become a champion of then-USSR (remember USSR?) in robotic break-dance, for several years in a row. Sounds too good to be true? Try it, and do it regularly. Can't promise you a break-dance championship, but other good things will surely come your way. A.

Ok it was thicker and newer. And I was disappointed. the older version written by Paul Bragg is much better. It gets right to the point and Paul tells of his own fasting stories and those of others. Bottom line is the older ,smaller and maybe cheaper version is much better. It may be had to find However.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Full of repetition of same things again and again Review: I have been an avid follower of the principles set down in this book since 1972 when I was sixteen years of age. At 45 I constantly encounter disbelief from people who can't imagine how I have maintained my health and youthful appearance. The big business marketers have complete control over the minds of people and have brainwashed us into believing that the processed foods they have us eating are good for us, or at least not destructive to our health. Billions go into maintaining this illusion. In fact they don't mind seeing us poisoned by unhealthy food, since they make so much money on selling it to us. This book is an outline of what it means to feed our bodies foods that build us rather than tear us down. It is the best of it's kind. By the way, Paul Bragg died in a surfing accident in Hawaii at the age of 93 I have heard. Isn't that testimony enough?

I am so greatful for the knowledge he has given us all.I used to go see him at his lectures. I was blessed to be able to see him in person. I have been in good health since I was 24 years old and I am in controll of my own body because of the knowledge that was given to me by Paul Bragg. God bless him..... Jo :>)
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This is the one of the best books on Fasting Review: I have had my book since 1996, and I have lived its principles for the past 6 years. This is a wonderful book. I love it. Paul Bragg was one of the great pioneers of fasting and it is because of him and his daughter Patricia Bragg that understand the "miracle of fasting" as I know it today. This book is a necessity. If you do not have a copy you should quickly get a copy, because it teaches you the basic fundamentals for a healthy lifestyle. I am glad that I have a copy of this book -- I am carded all the time and people sometimes mistake me for being a senior in high school or college. I know that it has a lot to do with me following the laws of God in the area of health and nutrition. This is one of the best books on Fasting that I have every read. It is not only good for the individual who desires to make lifestyle changes, but it is great for the whole family.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The Miracle of fasting! Review: I have read many books on fasting but none as good as this one, Not only does Paul Bragg take a stand for his faith he tells it like it is! The challenge I have always had with authors, is one simple fact...they rarely are an example of practice what they preach! This is the exact opposite of the Bragg family and they do it well! I believe that if you are challenged in any area, spirit mind or body, that you must take the advice of Paul & Patricia Bragg to heart. I accomplished a 70-day juice fast four years ago and thought I had all the answers! It wasn't till I took an afternoon to digest (no pun intended) the truthful and loving words of this book that I regained that faith. I started my first 3 day "true" water fast the next day. On another note...I was shocked at the "great" price of this book and believe every home should skip one trip to the fast food joint and use the money more wisely... GO FOR IT...I did!!!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The only diet & nutrition book you'll ever need Review: I really enjoyed the simplicity of this book. Many other books on diet and nutrition are too scientific and somewhat difficult to absorb. This one is plain and simple. I like the fact that the topics are repeated throughout the book. By the time you read the whole thing you have a good understanding of how to live a healthy lifestyle. It's really not difficult. This is a good book even if you choose not to fast. I became a vegetarian after reading this book and fasting made the transition much easier. I no longer crave junk food or meat.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Not for the Faint at Heart.. Review: I was introduced to the Bragg philosophy for Healthy Lifestyle many years ago in California, in the mid-80's. But it seems that founder Paul Bragg had been influencing thousands with his addictive crusade style of campaigning for justice in the world of food processing and chemical additives long before I was born! The work is now carried on his daughter, Patricia. Yes, the Bragg Philosophy comes across as a hard sell. It has to! Why? Because so many of us have been born and raised in a marketing environment tainted by years of commercial success which comes at the expense of the consumer. Sugar-sweet desserts are held in high esteem as tokens of affection and as a reward or treat. The Braggs advocate treating ourselves to the wholesome goodness of natural foods, but only after, and I repeat: ONLY AFTER the body has been given a solid cleansing - flushing out the toxins accumulated through years of food abuse. The straight talk and up-front attacks at the folly of mass marketing (note especially the section on Apple Cider Vinegar) are not pleasant to hear, and most of us need to be shaken quite hard to get us to come down from our tree! We have literally been brainwashed through no fault of our own and need to rediscover, like a lost art - the miracle of selecting, combining, and eating unadulterated foods in their most natural form. For those of you not keen on testimony and heresay, each and every claim is substantiated with scientific proof, the Bragg style underwrites every instance of recommendation with useful and direct evidence; hard facts such as chemical composition and calorie charts; statistics and the like- not to mention the excellent recipes! There is enough information in the charts alone to satisfy beyond the shadow of a doubt the validity of the enticing benefits, which are rightfully ours as human beings: Physical, Mental and Spiritual Rejuvination Sad to say, like many who won't reach out for help until they reach Rock-bottom (think of the movie 'Less Than Zero', about drug addiction)... I write this in high spirits, for this is the seventh day of a week-long cleansing fast, and I feel like celebrating with the world!... Luckily, the Bragg philosophy endures... My thanks to Patricia for carrying the torch completely around the world. Long live the Bragg philosophy, long live Patricia, and long live those who eat right, which should be everyone on the planet.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Bragg Healthy Lifestyle is the real deal Review: I'm a very big fan of how easily Patricia Bragg can communicate with the reader. Throughout this entire book, she finds subtle ways of telling us how bad stress, meats, bad water, and other toxic things are bad for us. She goes into detail on virtually every one of these toxic things. This book is outlined nicely, although the ideas are somewhat scatterbrained. It's nice though, because it jumps from one idea to the next, so you don't get bored about reading the same kind of topic over and over. It'll go from something like how Conrad Hilton overcame disease, to how fasting rejuvinates the mind, body, and soul, back to how we need to keep our 'pipes clean'. I would recommend this book to everyone who values their health in any way.
