Rating: Summary: Real Information Review: I first read this book in preparation for my breast aug over two years ago, and thought that would be the only section I would read. I ended up reading all of it many times over (so many times, some of the pages fell out), and it truly is like listening to someone who understands my feelings about wanting plastic surgery. Also, the book is organized very well, and from someone who has read almost every book out there, this is more important than you'd think. This is a great book to have regarding recovery information, as well (wanna know how you're going to feel after your surgeries, and how to prepare for coming home to recover? This is excellent!). I loved the book so much, I flew across the country to visit Dr. Collini, the author's husband, for my rhinoplasty, cheek implants, lip implants, lower blepharoplasty, and liposuction surgeries just three weeks ago. Susan and Charlee, as well as Dr. Collini and everyone in the office, are great people, easy to talk to and ask questions of, and are very caring. Their personalities show in "Two Girlfriends Get Real". Thanks to their book and expertise, my longed-for makeover was a complete and total success. Because they shared their knowledge, I look and feel great. For my own friends who confide in me their wishes of plastic surgery, this is the book I buy them as gifts. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to make informed decisions about the way they want to look!
Rating: Summary: THE best cosmetic surgery book out there Review: I first read this book in preparation for my breast aug over two years ago, and thought that would be the only section I would read. Rating: Summary: What a great book! Review: I have personally had two different cosmetic surgery procedures and was anxious to see if I agreed with what the "girls" had to say about them. WOW - they know their stuff! Reading what they had to say about the feelings one goes through before, during, and after the procedure was exactly how I felt. I suggest this book to all women whether they're ready now or just contemplating cosmetic surgery - IT'S A MUST!
Rating: Summary: Real Information Review: I've bought several books and had several cosmetic procedures and this is the best book out there. It provides the kind of information you really want before a surgery and in the decision making process.
Rating: Summary: Definitely worth the money - I'd give it 10 stars if I could Review: Last year my doctor suggested that I have medically-necessary breast reduction surgery, based on the symptoms I was exhibiting. Up until then, I had not thought about plastic surgery, so I didn't really know what to expect. So, I headed to the bookstore. I looked at and bought several books, but this is the one I used the most. I used it until it looked raggedy. It answered all of my questions, and it gave me more information than I expected - like the nitty gritty, gory details that even your best friend might not tell you about her own surgery. What really hurts and what doesn't. What a "surgical drain" is and what to expect. Why you should not freak out if the "T site" doesn't heal up right away. When to call the doctor after surgery and when to relax. This book was better than my best friend and definitely helped me pick the right, most experienced doctor for me; helped me determine what questions to ask my doctor and his staff before the surgery; helped me stay calm on surgery day since I knew what to expect; even helped me explain what the process would be like to my husband. Definitely worth every penny and more. I'd give the book 10 stars if I could! Thank you Susan J. Collini and Charlee Ganny! You girls are the best!
Rating: Summary: Triumphs, trials, tribulations and TRUTHS....... Review: SMART, straightforward and savy ....more fun than laughing gas, and more entertaining than most fiction! I just couldn't get enough of the authors' war-story wit, wisdom, and down right wackiness, and ended up reading this book cover to cover in one sitting. Every woman out there who's ever even THOUGHT about Cosmetic Surgery should read this, because, as the book points out, "knowledge is power". And to all the women in the world who have never even ENTERTAINED the thought of cosmetic surgery, BOTH of you should read this book as well. Let's face it, it's human nature to be really afraid of the unknown. But, using no holes barred "straight talk" (no "Doctor Speak" here), the book seperates fact from fiction, rumor from reality, and warns what to expect if you opt for cosmetic surgery, and, more importantly, what NOT to expect. Filled with "real life" stories, both good and bad, the pages contain insider cautions and advise from lessions that are normally only learned the hard way! With unabashed and unpologetic political incorrectness, the authors' fearlessly hammer home the first and foremost imperative; finding the right doctor for your particular procedure. They make it amply clear that your results will only be as good as the doctor you choose, and provide detailed information, contacts and tips on how to find a surgical "artist" while advoiding the many "quacks", pointing out the following: "What do they call a medical student who graduates LAST in his class?.........Doctor." You'll laugh out loud and maybe even cry while reading "Two Girlfriends Get Real About Cosmetic Surgery",......but you won't be bored. SUMMARY: The literary answer to "must see T.V.".
Rating: Summary: Heads Up Girlfriends Review: This book is highly recommended for anyone considering any type of cosmetic surgery. Well written and researched, it also includes moving personal accounts of those who have "been there" - from fears to triumphs. Actual before and after pictures (including the author's) attest to the astonishing results. A MUST READ, and entertaining to boot!
