Rating: Summary: Don't Pay Any Attention to Other Reviewers Review: This book is not useful or informative. Its emphasis on diet, herbal, lifestyle, homeopathic and vitamin therapy sadly ignores the endocrine issues underlying PCOS. To really understand PCOS and treatment options, buy Dr. Sam Thatcher's book, "PCOS, The Hidden Epidemic." It is equally compassionate and enormously superior in the quality of information on the causes and treatment options for PCOS. I didn't even donate Colette Harris book to my library (as I usually do with books I've finished) since I didn't want to be responsible for spreading misinformation to any women in need of PCOS information.
Rating: Summary: Solid information from medical professionals Review: This book provides comprehensive information for the 1 in 5 women who have PCOS. PCOS is a diagnosis often missed by physicians. Physicians often focus on the woman's presenting complaint failing to consider the long-term effects and health risks for hypertension, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The reader is educated how to take an active role by taking on a health lifestyle that addresses both short-term concerns as well as reducing long term health risks.
