Review: I haven't ordered this book yet, but it was recommended my pshyciatrist. As for causing more pain, well, when it comes to matters like these, it's going to happen. I will be using this in conjunction with medication to help me out of my depression, caused by my mentally abusive childhood. It usually gets worse before it gets better...No pain, No gain...I am doing this for me and my family.

Summary: Excellent book, but proceed with caution
Review: This book is designed to bring issues to the surface, where they can be dealt with. That's a good thing, but it is WORK. I recommend using this book only while in therapy. It may bring up issues that are too difficult to deal with on your own. And some of it may be quite painful for a while. But the process works.

I have used it in my law practice to assist young women who are facing the monumental decision of placing a child for adoption. Although this book is not new, it certainly deserves a place on your library shelf if you are in a helping profession or you work with teens or adults who have these issues. The book is designed to be used as a self-help manual to rebuild an individual's self-esteem.

Review: Whether you are a recovering alcoholic or an adult child of an alcoholic, this book will open your eyes to the devastation of alcohol abuse. Very helpful workbook format that is ideal for discussion groups. Easy to follow...easy to read...easy to understand. I highly recommend it!
