Summary: A great at-hand assistant to your carb counting
Review: Basically the condensed version of the book of the same name, but has great appeal and is handy in the kitchen.

It is a hard cased box of recipe cards, a small book, and fluff. It's great in a sense that you can remove all the recipes that you would never dream of eating or making, and give them to a friend. This also makes space in the box so you can flip through easier.

There are also flash cards of tips and refresher info so you don't have to dig through the book. A few of these cards tell you what the box is about, and otherwise blank, and you can toss those making even more room in the box.

The restaurant pocket thingy is not much to speak of. It's basically a big sheet of paper folded small with carboard tabs glued to it. It's very basic with a lot of wasted space. Has some value, but would be obnoxious opening in front of others. It really needed to be a little booklet.

The mini-book has 30 meal plans, the carb counting list, and daily carb log. This is the item that screws up the construction of the box. It should have been made more narrow than wide to make the box more compact. due to the extra inches of the book, the box is a lot taller than it should be with wasted space. The book is handy and full of easy to find info, but the meal plans should have been given it's own page for the 45, 60, 80, and 100 counts. But they are color coded. However, what is important is the content of course. The only true faults are on the constuction. As well, there was no need for so many wasted blank pages for a carb log. No one will use it as a typical notepad is best, and portable. This book is not.

There are flip tab inserts in the box for the days of the week. This is a good idea, however, the recipes are for many more than one person. So if you live alone, you might be eating one of these recipes all week. I suggest buying a package of blank 4"x6" index cards and writing down all the items you eat individually on each card. Construct your daily meal plan by choosing your own cards. You can always put the mini-book on the shelf if you need more room in the box. And remember, all these recipes are in the main book anyway.

If you do not have the "Atkins for Life" book, get that first. Or get both. Don't just get this box. It will be too confusing.

Atkins is popular because people are seeing that it actually works. Do it for two days, and you will be shocked at your weight loss and energy!
