Rating: Summary: A Primer Review: (...) This book is a primer, all right. It can be read in less than an hour (...). The author's belief is that progesterone cream will solve all women's hormone problems because even after menopause "the body's never-ending ability to produce estrogen makes it unlikely that estrogen deficiency is the problem..." (Excuse me while I have a hot flash.)
He bases this belief on the unproven saliva tests. The book is unscientific and almost insulting to intelligent women. The author writes things like: "Remember the word HEALTHY. H is for Hormone balance. E is for Exercise. A is for Avoid sugar." (You get the idea.) Then he finishes with a "cute" little story about a caterpillar.
Don't waste your money on this one! I recommend the far superior books on women's hormones by Dr. Elizabeth Vliet, especially "Screaming To Be Heard: Hormonal Connections Women Suspect & Doctors Still Ignore". If you want to explore taking progesterone (though Dr. Vliet explains why you are far more likely to be estrogen-deficient), then the books by Dr. John Lee are a better choice.
Rating: Summary: Comprehensive approach for "baby boomers"!!! Review: As a consultant pharmacist, specializing in women's health issues, I found Drs. Taylor's book one of the best, comprehensive, while easily understandable books that I have recently reviewed. I am dismayed to see this book listed currently as "unavailable" through Amazon, as I am now averaging 6 recommendations of this title to my patients daily. Amazon, you best order more copies!!!!

Rating: Summary: Resourceful Guide to Understanding Hormones Review: Dr. Eldred Taylor has been my doctor for years. And after going through various female changes--I'm now over 40, he recommended that I read this book. I must say that after reading this book, I have a much better understanding of the world of hormones and how they truly affect my life. This book helped me to understand how exercise, diet, and hormones relate to feeling and being healthy. I keep this book handy as a resource guide to refer to it whenever I feel out of balance! I love the highlights or take-home points throughout the chapter.

Rating: Summary: Hormonal Help Review: Finally, a doctor who understands that women DON'T always understand how their bodies work. As a home health R.N., I can attest to that fact....and women need to pay attention to what they are putting into their bodies and why. This book is a wonderful "primer" or way for a woman to start on a road to better health. Nothing can be more frustrating that being a woman who knows "something just isn't right with me" and having a doctor prescribe synthetic drugs...only to find out you are worse off than before you started the drugs. Here is an answer to that maze for a woman who is truly interested in actually reclaiming her health and understanding how her body works. Saliva testing should be the route of choice for testing a woman's hormones...this book guides a woman through the process of why blood testing for your hormonal status is NOT accurate and why saliva testing IS! Women...get smart....know your bodies and how it works. Let this book be your guide to renewed health.
Rating: Summary: Are Your Hormones Making You Sick -- A Sure Winner Review: I work in a health food store and have been researching holistic approaches to women's health issues for several years. Dr. Lee's book was very helpful, but somewhat difficult to understand. After reading Dr. Taylor's book, a lot of questions I had were easily explained and I was able to relate that information to customers in our store. There has been a need for a more detailed, but understandable book on women's hormones ... and this is it!

Rating: Summary: Learning Why I Feel The Way I Do Review: This book took me beyond the answer to its question, with information on how to make a difference in my health. With its clinical approach, I felt I was no longer just the patient, but a person empowered with understanding of the chemical makeup of my body. Thankfully, no food plans or diet recipes are included in this book, only information on how to correct a hormonal imbalance that has been plaguing me for fourteen years. Learning is more than half the battle when I can easily implement changes in my lifestyle!
