Summary: Read this book before you wind up living the movie
Review: and now, I was able to get it thru Amazon bookstore. I, too, left my 'first love' in the Philippines when I came to the US at 19. He then dated a HS- classmate of mine. They are married now and so am I. But I never stopped thinking about him. I swallow my pride everynow and then when I call him overseas - esp. on his bdays and when I feel down. We are the best of friends, I think, more than what I have with my spouse. He knows everthing I feel or hide and I know his. I know that I have "lost" him - I cry up to this day when I try to recall the love I had with him. I thought that I was the only one feeling these emotions. My friends say that I should forget him, but I can't. His parents never liked me either and this did not help at all when we were young. They probably have heard that I had too many suitors then. But when I read this book, it only proved that I am not alone in this. Nor am I crazy still thinking about him even though I am happily married. I guess these experiences are what love songs are based upon. This book COMFORTED me. Since we live 13thousand miles apart, I do not think we will be in the "found" category. Too many at stake and too many will be hurt. But this book gave me the words I have been trying to find whenever I think of my real first love, Kevin John.

Summary: loved it!
Review: I've purchased 3 copies of this book, one for my husband and I (reunited) and the others for friends. We also joined her lostlovers.com web site message board. This was like our bible when we were in the process of reuniting. I recently read hanover's, but it isn't in the same class as kalish's book. kalish has real research, not just interviews. I'm hoping she'll get this book back in print, but buy and read the ebook (at the web site) until then. The information is terrific.

Summary: great read!
Review: This is not just a bunch of love stories. It talks about why people think of lost loves through the years. The book describes her research on people who reunited. Not all the stories are happy endings, so not a sappy type book. And I liked that half of the stories at least were written by men.

Summary: Read this book before you wind up living the movie
Review: Unlike what some may think, this book doesn't advise people to break up their marriages. It is a study of what happens when lost lovers reunite, as is happening more and more with the opportunities the Internet provides.

As a warning, Dr Kalish writes that "It is naive and unrealistic to believe ... that former romantic feelings ... can be controlled by love or loyalty to a spouse." She even warns that "a Lost Lover in a marriage that he or she values should think twice before 'doing lunch.'"

This book helped me understand what was happening in my life after I tracked down my first love. It made sense out of what I was feeling and why, after 27 years, she is the most important person in my life. It also helped me understand why I'd felt so isolated for those 27 years.

This book is a must-read for anyone considering getting back together with a former love. Before you agree to meet - before you even go looking for them on the Internet - read this book. It could save you a lot of grief. Or at least prepare you for it. If you're on the fence on whether to buy the book, visit the LostLovers website run by Dr Kalish and read the stories there in the forums. Some will break your heart, others will fill you with joy. All will educate you. Then you'll know why you need to buy this book.

Summary: Restless Longing
Review: You always have one love in your life. The love that you just can't forget, the memory you refuse to erase. This book is about real stories and real people finding their lost loves. Some of them found their true happiness and others just found out that there is joy in the knowing. Just a great book and very inspiring.
