Rating: Summary: Finally, a primer for those serious about Witchcraft Review: I have been an active student the Craft for almost a decade. My very first book "To Ride A Silver Broomstick" gave me the foundations I needed to begin my journey through the etherworlds. As my knowledge base began to grow, I became more an more disenchanted (no pun intended) with the works being put out by other authors. They were all the same, and moving more and more into the "fluff bunny" arena. Witchcraft was becoming the "cool" thing to do. A trip to one of our local bookstores led me to "Nocturnal Witchcraft" and to date it has been the best book I have picked up. It has substance, and down to earth exercises that focus more on the relationship with deity rather than all the nifty tools and rituals you get to do. It is a must have for those who are truly serious about their work within the Craft. For those who may be hesitant by the darker side of the material, read it as a pure educational source. It will broaden your horizons and help you lose some of your fear about acts performed under the dark moon.
Rating: Summary: Fresh Perspective on Dark Witchcraft Review: I love the material in Konstantinos Nocturnal Witchcraft he touche on subjects that other witchcraft books will not even go there. I like finding out that I am a good dark soul. He has helped me to recongnize why so many people come to me for help in dealing with evil dark souls. I have always been more interested in the darker aspects of witchcraft and the Crone aspect of the Goddess. This book is a must have for those out there that are just not getting the information they need or want with traditional witchcraft books. This is a first on dark magick and the "good side" of it. I recommend this book for a beginner or advanced practioner as it has techniques I have never read about and i have studied magick for 4 years. For anyone interested in finding out the 4 different soul types and why you may be drawn to the darker energies of witchcraft i recommend this book. Even if you don't agree with all his methods this is a must have referrence. Thanks Deb
Rating: Summary: Simply the BEST for Nightkind Review: I love to admit, I am a Goth, although you couldnt tell looking at me, and this book defines my spirituality completely. This book has changed the way I believe as far as belief in modern Witchcraft is concerned. I have previously turned away from the Craft seeing that it had become too New Age-like. That was not the direction I felt my spirituality was headed. I liked to practice after dark. Nothing more need to be said. That is until I came across this little tome of wonders! I returned to the Path with a new sense of wonder and Black glitter amazement. I am once again putting on my unseen pentagram and walking the path of the night with confidence. The techniques in this book are not easy to master. There are many to let one practice for many months or years for that matter! Good luck on this. This should be the next perennial title as far as American Witchcraft goes. This is the core of Freedom as far as the Solitairy practitioner is concerned.
Rating: Summary: This book is not for people stuck in christianity Review: I picked up this book, and read the description, and enjoyed how konstantinos separated darkness and evil. They are not connected. Anyone not stuck in christianity-like duality thinking, knows that night and darkness is a natural thing. Unlike some people, I read this book cover-to-cover, instead of making judgements about it, without even reading it. I myself am into the darker aspects of things, but not looking to label myself. Labels are for soup-cans, not people. Nature is not dualistic. Darkness and light are not fighting each other for peoples souls. They are natural things. This book goes into detail about nocturnal magick, and embracing darkness, instead of shunning it like so many "white-lighters", who try to avoid the negative stereotypes about witches and darkness. Magick is supposed to be about yourself, and the connection with the energy source. Not people-pleasing. What you are attracted to, you cannot help. Who cares what people think!! Go beyond that. This book is a great read, and a great way to get into dark spirituality. My one complaint is Konstantinos only goes into depth with his own personal ethnic goddesses and gods, instead of making an indepth list. That is understandable. If you are into darkness, but not devil-worship, and interested in dark spirituality, pick this book up. You wont be dissapointed.
Rating: Summary: Pretty friggin good Review: I've been practiceing a short three years this was one of the first book that I bought I find that it's xselent for beginners exspecially those tired of fluffy new age stuff. I would recomend it
Rating: Summary: Very nicely done..... Review: I've been studying things of arcane nature over the past year or so. This book is one of the more interesting pieces I've come across. Simply put, this book is absolutely brilliant. Konstantinos's writing style, his tone, his diction....all very nicely organized into a package that's easy to read and simple to understand. Anyone out there interested in checking out a darker side to wicca or witchcraft, definitely check this out. Very much worth every penny!!
Rating: Summary: Original Magic Theory and Practice Review: Konstantinos, barring Summoning Spirits, is one of the most original authors on the subject of modern witchcraft. This is not typical Wicca, and probably not even Wicca, but rather the broader, less specific term known as "Witchcraft." I'm a Thelemite and am a two-year member of the real Ordo Templi Orientis, and I appreciate Konstantinos. My first experience with Konstantinos was through this books' companion, Gothic Grimoire. I wanted to compare him to my own views and practice of the occult, and use what I could. For Konstantinos' original views on the craft, all you need are a few items, such as a dagger, black cloth and robe. This is usable magic for beginners. I use mostly Aleister Crowley, but Konstantinos is also pretty cool. It is important for the occultist to get in touch with other forms of the art besides their own, mainly to know yours better. This is a fine book for goths and those like myself fed up with Wicca. The main differance between something like this and Wicca is this is menacing. My Aleister Crowley and Golden Dawn is also menacing. So we're alike.
Rating: Summary: Too Much Goth Review: Opening phrases like "Mysteries of the Dark" and "Craft of the Night" almost suggests this book is about Vampires or Goths. Everything in this book corresponds or responds to "black and silver". I almost hear Bella saying "Children of the Night, how I love to hear them sing". This coming from an author who has discussed vampirism on "Ricki Lake" and been interviewed in the book "Piercing the Darkness: Undercover with Vampires in America Today". Konstantinos paints the "Other" side of Wicca as being misunderstood and neglected by most Wiccans, but this is nothing more than a book on exploring the Moon aspects of Wiccan Worship as "Night Magic" and that it is "Dark". There seems to be alot of "hipe" here to suggest this a separate path of its own, when it is actually incorporated into the path of Wicca. He also seems to be suggesting that this is a Goth style path. Even the typefaces used in the book suggest Goth. While alot of the material here is 101 Wicca in the study of Moon Cycles material(both full and dark moons) and would be good for the beginner, I found that Konstantinos is trying to repackage this as a separate path, and selling it as "Night Magic". The basics are here if you want. But I feel it is out of context. Those who follow the Dark of the Night also walk in the Light of Day.
Rating: Summary: About time that someone acknowledged the dark side Review: The first time I ever saw this book, I snatched it on the spot. If you're someone who is following a wiccan path but not all light and flowers, this is definetly the book for you. Proves once and for all that dark does not equal evil. That is not what the left hand path is at all. You still keep the standard beliefs and ethics, you just work with dark god/desses and in the dark of moon. After all, the dark deities need to be acknowledged too. If there was no crone, there would be no rebirth.
Rating: Summary: Pretty Good! Review: This book is another good one from Konstantinos. Most of his books are pretty good, this one included. You should deffinatly get it. It helped me, a long time practicer of magick, a lot. Even more impressive is that despite my strictly anti-goodie-goodie-earth-religion views, I still got great use out of it. I was severly dissapointed, though, with the mind reading section. That didn't turn out to be anything really grand.
