Rating: Summary: This book freed me life of constant dieting! Review: For the first time in my adult life I can eat what I want without guilt or worry of gaining weight. The 7 secrets taught me how to stop depriving myself and start enjoying food rather than stuffing it. No longer do I spend my days obsessing over food, exercise and thoughts of weight loss. I use to work so hard, dieting, exercising and devoting my every thought to weight loss. I'd feel great when I'd reach my goal and I'd swear that I had changed my lifestyle forever but inevitably, a few months later the pounds would slowly creep back and so did my bad eating habits. But this method isn't about work(dieting) it's about letting go of the diet mentality that make us fat in the first place. By learning to listen to my body instead of my head, I no longer want to overeat or eat when I'm not hungry. I lost my excess weight without any effort this time and am *keeping* it off. Best of all, I'm finally free from the prison of food/exercise/weight obsession. I'm free, happy and THIN!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book - All you have to do is 'just do it' Review: I bought this program (kit coplete w/video, cassette tapes and book), and it truly works if you work it. There's no way it can't work - if you eat less (paying attention to what your body wants instead of what your mind wants), how can you not achieve your healthy weight? The video was excellent (hilarious as hell), and the cassettes were sraightforward and honest - you could tell Vicki Hanson really lived and experienced what she was talking about. I've never been so impressed with any weight loss author as I have with Vicki. Anyhoo, these ladies have dropped out of sight and I'd love to contact them to ask questions and buy more products.
Rating: Summary: This program works! Review: I can't say enough great things about this book and the eating program it contains. I lost 30 pounds over three years ago and it's still off. And I eat anything I want. Really! The biggest secret is to know WHEN to eat and WHEN to stop eating. If you can master that, it really doesn't matter WHAT you eat. And this program helps you understand those principles and apply them to your life. Try it yourself and see!
Rating: Summary: Seven weeks to naturally slim eating habits. Review: I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a real solution to struggles with their weight. Whether you are slim and constanly fighting to stay there, or morbidly obese, this is a viable solution. Reading "7 Secrets", you'll learn how and why you'll get fatter by dieting. My 'naturally slim' friends have verified that the 'secrets' revealed in the book are how they actually eat and percieve food. What I especially like about this book is the work sheets for each day of the seven weeks of the program. Worksheets make it very easy to transform the "7 Secrets" into your everyday life. I read the book cover to cover before beginning the worksheets and I recommend that you do too. The difference it is making in my life and my relationship with food is amazing. I have learned to eat food that makes me feel good, as a result, I am eating healthier and far less. I have learned to recognize when a food makes me feel bad so I can avoid it. It is psychologically freeing to be able to eat whatever you want, whenever you want it. I look and feel better than I have in 9 years and the weight is falling off effortlessly. The best part is, there is no dieting. You just have to be willing to relearn everything you thought about eating.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant!! Review: I'm still in the process of working through this deceptively simple book. I feel understood, informed and empowered by the material in it; the information feels intuitively right to me. In the past three weeks since starting The Seven Secrets of Slim People, I've lost 7 pounds without dieting and without changing my workout schedule. What I have done is followed the simple, natural, sane guidelines in this book. I feel freer and more relaxed around eating, not eating, choosing what to eat, what not to eat, etc., than I can remember having felt since my teens. Thank you, Vikki Hansen and Shawn Goodman!
Rating: Summary: Forget everything you've ever learned about diets. Review: If you are ready to accept that what didn't work all those other times won't work this time either, you're ready for the basis truth that your body is capable of achieving its own optimum weight. THE SEVEN SECRETS OF SLIM PEOPLE helped me to accept my body as normal and to respect it as a perfectly-designed machine that NEEDS fuel (food). My car has a gauge to show when its low on fuel, my body doesn't. Recognizing my body's cues of degrees of fullness gives a real sense of power. Amazingly, I've found that my body actually craves the food pyramid every 10-12 day!!
Rating: Summary: Definitely worth the read! Review: Really great book. Starts off with various facts on why we diet and why diets don't work, followed by the seven "secrets". Though some of these seem as though they should be common sense, it's very easy to be influenced by the diet industry and the ever-changing health advice from so-called "experts". This lets you tune out all these influences that have tried to control your behavior and weight, while teaching you to listen to your body for guidance. The book is geared to read over several weeks as each secret is followed up by a week-long exercise geared to gradually change your thoughts toward food. If you read the book cover to cover it will just take a couple hours. Very easy read.
Rating: Summary: STOP DIETING FOREVER... Review: The concept of stopping dieting to lose weight has interested me since reading several books by Geneen Roth. It wasn't until I happened onto this book that I once again considered that diets have made me fat. Being at my all time heaviest weight, the thought of going on another diet seemed dreadful. I have read nearly every diet concept that has been out in the past 15 years and tried most. They were all somewhat successful for a while. I would lose weight, get more comfortable with myself and return right back to eating the forbidden foods I liked. I purchased 'The 7 Secrets of Slim People' and read it in one evening. It is very well written & enjoyable to read. The book was amazing and I finally feel free in life to enjoy food and stop when I am satisfied. The author acknowledges all aspects of food, physical, emotional and pleasure. This is the first book I have ever read on eating that actually encourages you to enjoy eating. I have stopped dieting, learned to eat between hungry and satisfied as taught in this book and lost 25 lbs in just two weeks. I have eaten all the foods I love. The concepts in this book make sense. BUY THIS BOOK! It will change you life and free you from the torture of dieting. STOP DIETING AND HARMING YOURSELF.
Rating: Summary: Deprogram Yourself w/ This Book Review: The diet and fitness industry will have you believe that you need to go on the latest "hot" diet in order to loose weight, and it promises to change your life: look sexier, have more energy, lose inches, etc. Until the next fad diet comes around and promises the same thing. Currently, the Low-Carb diets are all the rage, and in the 90's it was all about Low-Fat diets. Then there's the high protien diets, the special food combination diets, the shake diets, then come the dangerous diet pills and powders...The list goes on and on. When you really think about it, if these diets truly worked like they claim to do, then the obesity rate in the US would not be what it is today (and experts are now saying that the obesity could rise up to 40% in 5 years!). This country is obsessed about being thin, which is painfully obvious: just turn on the tv and at any time there's another infomercial offering the latest weight loss gadget or diet plan. Yet, this country is the fattest one on Earth!
Enter: The Seven Secrets of Slim People. This book, if read with an open mind and heart will change your life and the way you look at food and diets forever. In a simple and common sense manner, it describes the way the body works and teaches the reader how to be able to be friends with your body instead of being it's "enemy", and listen to your body's natural signals of hunger, which for many people have been distorted. It goes on to explain why this distortion can lead to overeating. It explains how to recognize your body's "full button" so you will know when you've had enough to eat. It has very simple but powerful exercises to be done each week and will allow the reader to slowly implement them as habits, and the reader will soon do these things automatically, and allow their body to lose the excess weight naturally.
Forget DIETS, counting calories, carbs, and fat grams, and the overall OBSESSION with food! The beauty of it is that you can ENJOY food GUILT FREE and eat whatever you want. The diet industry will have you believe you have to follow their latest diet to lose weight, and any diet will cause you to lose weight BUT as soon as you come off it, the pounds will come back and then some more. FOOD IS NOT THE ENEMY. You can eat anything you want as long as you know WHEN and HOW to eat!!!!
This book is helping me deprogram myself from all the media hype and brainwashing that has caused me to go on stupid diets that have only hurt my body, not NOURISHED it. I have started losing pounds and the best thing is that there is no deprivation WHATSOEVER. I wish that if you are reading this review, to get your hands on this book and free yourself from the bondage of diets for good.
Rating: Summary: Philosophy trumps diet science..... Review: This book is a rare gem for people looking for the real answer to weight loss. It is written in a very casual and easy to read format because it's message is simple; by trying to manually control your body's natural eating through dieting you are heading for trouble. I have tried several diets in the last 5 years; Body For Life, Atkins, Carbohydrate Addict's, Warrior Diet, etc. They all in the end tell you to ignore your hunger in some way or another. This is not healthy, and not natural. This kind of deprivation ineviatably will lead you to binge and gain weight. I weighed more after doing these diets then I ever did when I ate what I wanted when I wanted. I have enacted "The Seven Secrets of Slim People" along with "Your Body's Many Cries for Water" and have been losing weight ever since. You must also be patient, weight gain doesn't happen overnight and weightloss is no different. If you want to lose even more weight then start exercising. Not only will you lose weight faster, but it will make you that much healthier.
