Rating: Summary: Finally... Review: A book that makes sense. This is the first of the MANY books on organization that has finally made sense to me. All the other books have come up with these "perfect" little filing systems, planners and crate techniques that I can keep up all of two days before I'm back into my right-brained chaos. This book teaches you how to work WITH yourself instead of against. Whew... Life is under control and you can walk through the house without tripping over stuff! How cool is that?
Rating: Summary: A uniquely practical tool for "right-brainers" Review: Every creative person needs at least one Lee Silber book in their collection.
In his latest title, Organizing from the Right Side of the Brain, "right-brain guru" Silber helps creative professionals create order in their lives with a smorgasbord of unorthodox hints and ideas.
Now, you may already have baskets in your bathroom for reading material. I didn't. I've never even labeled my iTunes CDs.
In an attempt to become more organized, I've tried a number of different systems. However, "mind like water" and "Fly Zones" are not right-brain concepts. 300 manila folders and a master task list later, I surrendered and bought Silber's new book.
I'm certainly not the poster child for organization. (Yet.) But I'm doing much better. My possessions have "homes". My desk doesn't look like a city model of L.A. anymore.
And I'm more productive than ever.
Organizing from the Right Side of the Brain is an excellent organizational aid for the individual who is perhaps just a tad too creative for other methodologies. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: No Wonder! Review: I am a successful, emotional balanced (and humble) photographer who has managed to make a living with my art. All the left-brainies in my life over the years have wondered how I have been able to be successful inspite of the clutter and collections in my home business. Reading this book was like "reading my mail"...ie...my creative solutions to life that don't look nice and neat are not only okay but preferable for someone like me.
This book gives both the permission to be myself as a creative individual and lots of tips on making my life and environment more effective. Thank you Lee!
Rating: Summary: Brilliant , Entertaining and Practical! Review: I have read many books on the topic of getting organized and this is simply the BEST! Why??? Because most "professional organizers" seem to be the "left brain" types (the kind that make great accountants) and do not address the needs of those of us who are more visual and creative. Lee's book has multiple ideas for each area of organization. If one idea doesn't work or inspire there are many others. There are interviews with real life people who have untangled their chaos to become more productive...something we
ALL want to be!! Best of all the book is a fun read and entertaining! Mr. Silber has a great sense of humor. I look forward to reading his other books!! This is a MUST for everyone who made "Getting Organized" one of their 2005 Goals!!
Rating: Summary: Lee Silber, Creative Genius Review: If you are at all creative, you probably live among piles of interesting things. Mr. Silber helps you to understand why you do the things you do and how, efficiently, to put them in their place. Being "right-brained" is a gift and this book will help you take your gift and organize your belongings so that you can find them !....
Rating: Summary: True organized bliss! Review: Lee Silber has done it! He has helped me meet my goal of getting my space organized! I bought Lee's book as a gift to myself so I could create more space, more serenity and more time to accomplish my goals this year. His book is easy to read and his suggestions make organizing fun! The most useful of his suggestions? Put things where you use them, not where there is room. That one simple suggestion challenged me to use my creative spirit to find innovative and interesting storage places that work for me. Now, my DVD's are stored right under the television and not on a shelf in my bedroom, thus eliminating the pile of DVD's on the floor by the television!
If you are in your "Right" mind, you will order Lee Silber's book, organize yourself and give your creativity a pat on the back for a job well done!
Rating: Summary: Good grouping for the right brained Review: Lee Silber has gathered a great amount of resource material for the right-brained to be organized. This book has a varity of ways to deal with the right-brained factor. I've read and re-read and purchased his other organizing and career books and was not disappointed in this new book, in fact I have read it 2 times already since purchasing this past winter 2004 and will read it again to learn and apply more to my own life. I appreicated all the personal applications of real people who had similar difficulties in organizing and how their right-brained organizing skills have helped them to better function in their everyday lives whether for work or at home. I fully recommend this book for any one who lives in the right-brained world and would like to better function in the regular world.
Rating: Summary: Organizing for ALL Brainers... Review: Organizing from the Right Side of the Brain is an excellent and very useful book, whether you are Right Brained, Left Brained or in my case a little of both. This book makes sense and it takes a very tedious and sometimes overwhelming task and simplifies it so the chore can be accomplisehd in an organized, fun, logical and still creative way. Lee achieves this by presenting scenarios from individuals giving us the opportunity to choose which system works best for us. He gives us options that are not rigid and understands the creative process allowing for the difference in our thinking and life styles. I found this book amazingly helpful at a time in my life when I am in the midst of having two books published of my own, and dealing with starting a home based office for my writing and consulting business; believe me I needed the organization skills Lee shared. By implementing his creative and sometimes unorthodox guidelines, my creative space is efficient, tidy and conducive to many hours of creativity without having the interruption of not been able to find pertinent papers or files. As always Lee presents his creative guidance in a light and witty way, as Lee Silber has established in his Creative book series.
Rating: Summary: read this book! Review: This book is packed full of helpful information for the disorganized creative person.
Rating: Summary: Finally, an organizing book I can relate to Review: Years ago, I thought I was very organized. That was when I worked in TV production as a line producer. The reality is, I was only organized because I had many production assitants who carried around big schedules and kept everyone on task and everything in order. All I had to do was say yes or no to all the creative stuff, but other people did the follow through (those were the good old days!).
Now that I am a mom, a writer, a public speaker, and I am working on 10 different projects at once, I have trouble keeping everything organized, especially paperwork. But none of the other organizing systems or books that I have tried work for me, they are way too rigid for my kind of thinking. Lee Silber understands that there are different ways of getting and staying organized that creative people can relate to, and provides many choices for people like me. Thanks, Lee, for all the tips!
