Summary: Good book by a bad man.
Review: I am Rose, of Rose's Story in this book. I was also a sexual victim of Bill Bluestein. Until now, have I never spoken out about the abuse perpetrated by the sociopath who wrote this book, Bill Bluestein. Even though it may be too late for my information to help anyone, I must take this opportunity to confront this demon from my past.

I won't go into the specific details of what happened with Bill B., except to say that he used the power of his position to leverage me into having sexual intercourse. If anyone is interested, there must be some way to get the story from me directly, as I will happily debrief to anyone genuinely interested.

I do want to set the record straight about my recovery. My problems with bulemia were far from over in 1985's (circa), when I wrote that autobiographical story. It took me 20 years of psychoanalysis, up to 3 times a week, for me to finally recover at the age of 50+.

My struggle for a healthy survival goes on. The Bill B's of this world will come and go. Bill is mostly the pathetic victim of himself, and though his words are certainly not gospel, they can prove useful. As with anything in life, this book should be taken with the understanding that you use what you can and discard the rest.

Summary: This book is life altering if you are ready to recover
Review: I was shocked to see that there were actually negative reviews on this book.
One of the reviews I read sounds like it was written for another book as the content in the review was not related to any of the people or subjects contained in this book.
... On to what I have to say about this book. This is positively one of the greatest books I have read for overeaters. This is not a diet book, but a healing tool, and a spiritual tool using the twelve steps.
In many ways compulsive overeaters or binge eaters are like alcoholics. It is a compulsive disorder that has so little to do with food. We eat to "stuff" our pain, hurt, anger, fears, regrets, sorrows and disappointments.
Using the tools in this book and going to Overeaters Anonymous I have been binge free for two months. I haven't had any sugar during that time. At one time these both really did seem impossible. But thanks to this wonderful book and the help of OA I am healing. If you have problems with binge eating or compulsive overeating I think this book is well worth the money and more.

Summary: Definietly buy
Review: If you think you're a compulsive overeater, this book is a great buy. I had trouble understanding all of the steps, and was shy to ask at my local OA meetings.

This book is not the "big book" for OA, but is a reference to the big book's steps, and how the author was able to understand each step and the signifigance of them to her life.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Amazing interpretation
Review: This book has helped me tremendously. I love the sample questions in Step Four, and it's in-depth explanation of the program and it's effectiveness.

Definitely a good companion to the "Big Book".
