Summary: same old [junk]
Review: Are you a lonely person? Have you tried to make friends but always felt that people just didn't like you? Then this book is for you.

Are you in sales? Have you tried to sell a product and even though the presentation was great the customer didn't buy? Then this book is for you.

Have you tried to get close to a girl and even though everything seemed going well, you just didn't know for sure if she likes you too? Then this book is for you.

I can go on and on with examples such as the above, but I'll stop to tell you that you have to buy this book. A speech conversation is not the only way to communicate with people, and it turns out that it's even the poorest way of communication. Understanding body language is really important if you want to communicate well with others.

This book is a great intro to body language and it's for everyone. It's easy, filled with illustrations and teaches you how to act with people and how to decode their movements. You will never regret buying this book.

Summary: To the point
Review: Excellent, straight-forward book on deciphering body language. Line drawn illustrations, clearly written text without a lot of scientific mumbo jumbo and advice on how to react to certain behaviors to try to change situations to your advantage. Useful for anyone who wants to communicate more effectively.

Summary: Outdated
Review: I bought this book against my better judgement and lack something better. I had hoped to find something more professional. I don't think there is a lot of information available on this subject, especially stated in a highly scientific manner.

This is a light and frilly, easy to read book that gives some good hints to common gestures. I find the material to be rather non-concrete with lots of ... "it could mean this, *if* it is paired with ...". The material is a bit outdated in as far as common gestures can be. It is in dire need of a work over considering if you read it, you can imagine yourself to be in the 70s or 80s. Gestures that come about in business and dating have changed a bit, become more outgoing.

One paragraph in the book could get you shot. It states that you should try and get out of your car and head over to the policeman's vehicle to confront him in a open and honest manner when have been stopped for a traffic violation. In Texas one can get shot for this. The golden rule as everyone knows is, stay in your car with your hands in view on the steering wheel!

So, all in all. I recommend this book for a light read. It is good to see some of the common gestures jotted down in black & white, but don't expect it to give you an indepth view on the human psyche.

Summary: Not Bad
Review: I recently entered the sales world. I realized during my short tenure how important body language is. This book does a good job of getting me started in at least one area. Being aware of my own body language, so others see me as more friendly and open.

It is an easy read with ok pictures. If you know little or nothing about body language, this is a good book to start with. Just don't expect to know everything, because body language is not black and white. I do recommend the book. Yes, I do read reviews and have been fooled by them often. I sometimes wonder if some of these people are paid to give these outstanding reviews or if I just have higher expectations. Good reading.

Summary: Don't bother getting this book!
Review: This book has so little useful information such as when a person has their arms cross their closed and to their self(already know that!)Sure this book gives you pictures and not decent pictures a the least. After reading this book the only single use of information I have gained from this book is when a guy puts his hands on or by his waist he's trying to attract someone.Don't waist your money. And if you see the other reviews about how great this book is (like I fell for)and are tempted to buy it go to Borders bookstore and read it there.

Summary: Still the Best Value for the Beginner and Interim Student
Review: This was my first book on body language. It is still the one I use and recommend more than any other. It has all the basics in a no-nonsense KIS (Keep It Simple) format. A couple of items are a bit dated, (like the smoking and eyeglass mannerisms), but there is still 98% excellent material. Easy to read and understand. It is illustrated - simple illustrations but they make their point. Get it and start having fun and being more successful in your communication.

Summary: EXCELENT BOOK, IF YOU ARE A BEGINER
Review: When I was initially becoming interested in Body Language Issue, this was the first book I bought and read about it. It was a good choice. This book contains an explanation about the most common manners, gestures and postures people do on a particular humor, thinking or circunstance. It will be very helpful for you if you are starting on this issue. But don't expect a high detailed explanation about clusters and sequences of body movements. And the most important, don't think you'll know everything about body language after read this book. I have far beyond reading about this, and I'm still learning new things.
