Rating: Summary: A mature look at relationships Review: This is a wonderful book about how to build a mature relationship with real intimacy, meaningfulness, and a deep sense of connectedness. It is not an easy formula for success but it is realistic and written with a genuine voice. It shows us that all great relationships have their rough patches. It shows us that fighting is part of the development of any good relationship. It shows us that if you want your relationship to develop further, you need to know what you are feeling deep inside and communicate how you feel even if you think you might get hurt. Though a little more dry in writing style than most books of its kind, it is also a fantastic book on how relationships work. This book is excellent if you are struggling to figure out your relationships. But... as the other reviewer said, I agree that it is recommended for people who have the maturity of being middle aged or older. There will be exceptions both ways though. Some younger but mature people may appreciate it and other older but less mature people may not. Regardless, I think it is a great book that will move humanity towards more peace and unity.
Rating: Summary: So profound and easy to understand! Review: This is the best book I have ever read that focuses on the psychology of the evolving spirit and the deeper nature of our relationships. I have read many books that address this topic but many of them repeat words and phrases like "nothingness", "being", "present moment awareness", "oneness", "being in the present", "appreciating the process", "love and care", "gentleness", "good communication", "empathy and understanding" but never gave me a full understanding of what these things really mean. Unlike many other books that try to explain spirituality from psychological perspective, this book succeeds at doing this in a way that is both profound and easy to understand. I now give this book to many of my friends because I want them to have wonderful relationships and be all that they are and can be. I know that only some of them will read it right away but since I think we encounter and become motivated to read certain books when they are relevant in our lives, the others will hopefully read it eventually at some point. This is most certainly a very important book and absolute must read for people interested in relationships, consciousness, and adult development! I enthusiastically recommend this book to everyone in search for the road to fulfillment!!!!!
Rating: Summary: wanted to like it... Review: Yep, i bought it hoping for some self-discovery. I would have been more than satisfied with some simple take-home points to bring into everyday life. I wanted to like this book, and thought I would from the reviews on Amazon (generally fairly good, but they can be artificially inflated, as a NYT expose recently found). Not sure about what other people saw in this book. It was full of platitudes and other obvious and trite suggestions. Because I'm scientifically minded, I want to have a reason to believe the advice I'm being given, but the author's basic premises are unsubstantiated. Moreover, it was boring. BIG CAVEAT: I didn't finish the book, only getting half way through. Maybe it gets better?
