Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A Must-Read for Both Men and Women Review: Dr. Alice Domar's book on Self-Nurturing is a must-read for both men and women! To say that this book is simply a woman's book and has no application to men is like saying we really don't want to understand the lives and experiences of over 50% of our population. Self care is what stress management and Mind/Body Medicine are all about, and this book sheds light and understanding on these important issues. Recommend this book to women AND men everywhere! . . . Gary L. Flegal, Ph.D., Professional Stress Management Services.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A great system for nurturing ourselves Review: I have both the book and the audio tapes, and I use them both often. I was one of those serious workaholics who ruined my health with long work days, lots of business travel, bad nutrition, no exercise and no downtime. Alice Domar offers simple solutions for nurturing your body, mind and soul back to a state of balance. We can all hustle and bustle ourselves into an early grave, or we can take a few minutes each day to relax and enjoy life. This books shows you how to relax into it - and by it I mean your life, your job, your relationship, losing weight - everything that we take so seriously in life. Once you start honoring yourself with self love, soul nurturing and quiet time for yourself, you will find that the world around you will change. You will no longer feel obligated to rush through life to get to the next task or appointment. While everything in this book and the audio tape set may not work for you, I am sure there are a few suggestions that will make a difference in your life. Ms. Domar is not trying to offer miracles in your life. She is just trying to make sure you take the initiative to have a long, healthy and happy life.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: wondering Review: I'm wondering why when I submitted a negative review, it didnt show up on this web site. I took Ms. Domar's class (yes, she did invent yoga), and found it bordering on absurd. To lead women with serious medical problems to believe they can "relax" and then they'll get pregnant - she claims that's not what she says, but that's exactly the interpretation of her work she encourages. So if I submit the truth in a review, but with 5 stars, will amazon add it to the web site?
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: another woman's comfort book Review: Just found out that an audio version, "talking book" will be available for this book in Spring of 2000. Will be excellent listening for commuters. I believe this book and tape will help many people as it has helped me.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: wondering Review: This book gives a better understanding to the important role women play as women; and how necessary it is to care for ourselves in every way.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Outstanding! Review: This is an amazing book. Lots of women that I know (myself included) have trouble taking time for themselves, yet they put in incredible amounts of time helping their female friends. This book helps you deal with that problem. I was also lucky enough to hear Alice Domar when she was on National Public Radio a few weeks ago. I found the interview fascinating. Dr. Domar talked about how you need to take time for yourself; so many of us feel guilty when we give ourselves time to relax. She has helped me realize that doing nice things for yourself is something that women need to do more of, and that we shouldn't feel guilty for doing it. I HIGHLY recommend this book to any woman.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Comforting and Empowering Review: This is such a supportive, warm, helpful, penetrating book. It helps enormously for me to rethink my life in terms of this concept of self-nurturance. What is great is how Dr. Domar takes you through so many different aspects of life and gives you practical and spiritual and psychological ways to nurture yourself in all these different areas--relationships, family, creativity, work, play, and faith. (I hate to admit it, but it also gives me confidence to know that she's a Harvard Med. School person.) I never fully realized just how exhausting and draining it can be to be so focussed on everyone else's needs. This book is giving me permission to really take time for myself, and it's giving me all sorts of ideas on how to use that time wisely, for my health, well-being, and capacity for joy. The stories are engaging, and there's something of value on every page. What a gift! I'm telling all my friends that this one is a must.
