Summary: This Book Is an Excellent Read!
Review: Lillian Glass writes a highly intelligent book on how to deal with the negative people in this world who live to create tensions for others - and let's face it, they're everywhere! I originally bought the book because I worked for a very difficult woman(she was what the author referred to as "The Competitor"). I needed some advice desperately, and this book came to my rescue all the way. It offers ways in which to recognize toxic people, and many strategies on coping with their behavior. It helped me learn how to deal with negative behavior tactfully and maturely. There aren't many books on the market today that offer that. I followed the tips and suggestions, and my interpersonal skills have improved dramatically. I am in total agreement with the author about how the cause of most toxic behavior is rooted in jealousy. As for some of the negative reviews on this book----quite frankly, I'm baffled. I felt the author was extremely astute. I myself, found the book to be very helpful and insightful.

Summary: Very useful information
Review: Lillian Glass' book "Toxic People..." was extremely helpful to the point of changing my life for the better. I am not one to search out "self-help" books but I think everyone has come across at least a couple of the toxic personality types that Dr. Glass describes in this book. Not only is each personality described but methods and techniques on how to deal with these people are offered as well. The main thing is that many of us have found ourselves being manipulated and dragged down by certain people who make us miserable. This book tells you that you do not need to put up with any of that and how to alleviate the situation or just leave it altogether. Definitely give it a read and see if you reassess the relationships in your life also.

Summary: Very informative
Review: One of the best books I've read. The author gives insights to many different types of people who could be ruining your life. She goes on to tell how to deal with each type. If you find certain people upsetting you, this book will give positive constuctive steps to overcome the situation.

Summary: Advice Dispensed Like Sugar Pills -- Save Your Money!
Review: Taking Lillian Glass' advice about how to deal with the hostile people in your life is like searching for the sun on a hot summer day. The "tips" given here almost exclusively fall under the category of COMMON SENSE.

Of course you don't ask your irritable boss for a raise just after news spread that the company isn't performing well. To avoid someone who has repeatetly complained about loud music coming from your apartment also seems like a logical thing to do without Ms. Glass' reminder.

I was looking for the author to shed some light on the mystery of whether or not to wear a heavy coat when walking in a blizzard. I would say YES, but I guess I'll never be sure.**
