Rating: Summary: This is a wonderful book! Review: I have read Dr. Carolyn Mein's book. In her book on page 47, she clearly states that the essential oils can be diluted with vegetable oil, and to use caution. She has also written that the oils can be used effectively with no application by smell only. This book is an excelent achievement on the emotional application of essential oils. Please don't let someones lack of competence, and understanding deter from this book, or the use of essential oils.
Rating: Summary: This is a wonderful book! Review: I have used this book for self-healing and was amazed at how insightful the material is, how accurate the correlations are between our individual temperaments and ailments we have, and the detailed charts that show how to release pain and heal emotional wounds. I know others who have used this material successfully as well. Using essential oils on a few trigger points is an excellent way to heal deep trauma and old patterns in only a few weeks, rather than months or even years of other therapies. The only caution I would suggest is to make sure the essential oils used are of the very highest quality, organically grown, carefully processed with no additives or adulteration. As far as the issue of using oils neat, this is not a book of full body massage but putting them on acupuncture points. Some oils like Oregano or Clove might be 'hot' to use neat but I have used numerous oils neat for years with no problem at all. We all have to pay attention to our biochemistry. This book also has one of the best descriptions of kinesiology (muscle testing) I have ever seen. Everyone can always test to find out which oils work for them and how much or how often to apply them.
Rating: Summary: I have not read this but feel I must respond to last review Review: I just would like to know what credentials the reviewer of *Warning,Dangerous* has to make the statements that they do. I just don't care for the scare & fright tactics used, especially to perspective people that don't know enough about aromatherapy safety...I myself am confused about the extreme statements. Some of the comments are correct but others I take issue with, for instance it is true that essential oils applied *neat* can be dangerous and they should be used with correct knowledge & care but other oils can *BE* used neat such as Lavender for one, I myself use it all the time for headaches rubbed into my temples for years. My DNA is just find after its use.I would suggest to anyone use discernment & not let fear lead you astray & do your own research about aromatherapy.I can't help but think this is a issue with YLS oils,I am not affiliated at all with them, but have used their oils and found them to be very good, but I co-create my own blends.I will buy the book. Namaste

Rating: Summary: do your homework Review: In response to 'tina', who seems paranoid about "therapeutic grade" essential oils, I say DO YOUR HOMEWORK. It sounds as if you've used 'cheap' oils, or some from a health food store, and thats not good enough. Dr. Young has studied extensively in Europe to bring the highest quality essential oils to us using low heat and taking extra time, up to 2 hours in distillation chamber, not 15 min like many companies who want a fast buck. He cares about the oils and their effect on us as he uses them extensively on himself, his wife and their child. Why wouldn't you want to produce a product you're proud of, and constantly brings amazing testimonies from people who use them. The prices are very affordable considering it's impacting your health and very future. So many people wasting thousands of dollars on cigarettes every year, or drinking pop and eating junk food which is taking them down a very dark path in the end, here is someone who's put in the time and tremendous effort to bring a quality product, and like usual, you have someone with limited knowledge scaring others before they even get a chance to get their feet wet. There's nothing wrong whatsoever with NEAT application, I'm a nurse, and please, don't even begin to compare the horrors of vaccines in this country with Gods gift of essential oils that HEAL!!!!!!! And I'll say it again, yes, there are a few oils that should be diluted, but if you read, and study the subject, you'll know which ones they are. After all, do you just go get your Drivers License when you're 16 without ever studying for the test, without ever getting behind the wheel with a teacher first? I don't think so, and so it is with the oils. The Young Living Essential Oil Company is the one you WANT to deal with, they speak the truth. Thanks
Rating: Summary: Warning--Dangerous. Review: Please take a moment to read the following warning. The author of this book is a Gary Young/Young Living advocate. This publication instructs the reader to use essential oils "neat" (undiluted) on the face and body. Please, before buying this book, do a search on the Web for essential oil safety! It is unscrupulous, unethical, and downright dangerous to promote the uses Carolyn Mein presents in this book. The dangers inherent with using undiluted essential oils include IRRITATION, a process where a given substance is applied to the skin, causing anything from a mild itch to burns. A much more serious possibility is SENSITIZATION. Once the substance has been introduced to the skin, it may cause permanent changes in one's immune system, somewhat like receiving an inoculation. Although initially no adverse effects may be experienced, once the body has been sensitized, subsequent introductions of this or a similar substance may cause a reaction. The severity ranges from a mild itch, to severe anaphylactic shock. Finally, PHOTOSENSITIZATION (phototoxicity) can occur. This is where a substance coming into contact with the skin reacts with ultraviolet light, resulting in anything from a discoloration of the skin (such as brown blotches,) to severe burning. The condition can be very persistent and reoccuring. An excellent and highly recommended source of sensitivity information is a gentleman named Martin Watt, an excellent author and educator, whose information is available in most search engines. I am not affiliated with him in any way, but my conscience would bother me if I failed to warn the naive reader of the possible ramifications of purchasing and utilizing the aforementioned book.
Rating: Summary: REBUTTAL to both reviews by Tina Marie Carelli Review: The oil sensitivity and photosensitivity issues are both addressed on page 47 of this book. Directions for dilution of oils or just smelling the oil instead of applying it are also discussed on the same page.I found this book very valuable and helpful both on procedure and specific emotional healings as well as on progressions of healing other emotions related to emotional core issues and suggestions for writing and other clearing methods. The author is very clear about her high regard for both Gary Young and the oils his Young Living company produces and sells.
