Summary: Nice, but...
Review: Chapters four through eight focus on the elements (and quite well) but they are rarly mentioned afterward, and the various spells all look the same a few chapters in. Good to get a general idea of what may be done with diffrent aspects of nature which is probably what was intended, but considering the ammount of time spent on the elements I would have liked to see his explanations of there relevance to the other spells. The way it is after chapter eight it turns into yet another B.O.S.
And why is he so paranoid of the Yew tree? _Everything_ has a use. Still, for the first several chapters it gets four stars.

Summary: Very good
Review: Cunningham writes great books about Wicca. His Guide for the solitary and Living Wicca were instant classics. However, this work, like a few others of the "practical" type, is NOT as quality a work as those.
This is a workable field guide to tools and techniques, but not something worth more than a quick perusal.
Go offline, get to your local big bookstore and order a giant hot cocoa and a cookie. Read the book in the cafe, and leave it there.

Summary: A great beginner's guide to Natural Magick
Review: Earth Power is a great book for those who are new to Witchcraft and interested in Natural Magick. Cunningham provides useful information while his explanations and instructions are easy to follow. The spells featured in the book are actually "do-able"; they don't require fancy robes, prescious hard-to-find stones, and even harder-to-find herbs. They are very simple and to-the-point, which is extremely helpful for us who dislike long, complicated rituals. You wont find any long, rambling chants. Instead, Earth Power contains short, simple chants for a practical and natural form of magick.
This is NOT a book for Wiccans. You'll not find the rules and basics of Wicca nor will you find any ceremonial magick.
Earth Power is a how-to book without the rigid rules that you often see in occult books. It does not teach, it guides. It guides you and inspires you to create your own magick YOUR way.

Summary: Nice, though not what the title suggests
Review: I give this book four stars because I think that "Earth, Air, Fire, & Water" by the same author was much better. It's still a good book for those of us who practise natural magick.

Hope this review helped you.

Summary: I found it lacking
Review: I have several books by Scott Cunningham - all of which are better than this. The concepts and ideas are solid and the writing is in the typically lucid and easy to understand style that one would expect from Cunnningham. His recommendations on the use of natural "tools" for practicing witchcraft are refreshing, as are his outlines for spells and divinations. Yet in comparison to his other works, Earth Power is lacking. I much preferred his Witchcrafft for the Solitary Practitioner, Spellcraft, and Earth, Air, Fire, Water - all of which I recommend over this book.

Summary: Good for beginners or experts looking for inspiration
Review: I'm a practicing Elemental Wiccan, have been for almost 11 years. I picked up this book, excited that just maybe somebody had finally written a good book on Elemental and Nature Magic.

Well, I sort of got what I was looking for.

Overall, this book is a beautiful read. Whenever I miss the ocean, or long for the mountains, or wish I could go to the deepest forest and just be lost in the beauty of my surroundings, this is the first book I go for. The visual imagery is so vivid and intense that I am guaranteed a wonderful book led meditation, or awesomely realistic dreams. I also really enjoyed the visuals and pictures in this book. Very beautiful.

However, as far as learning the art of Elemental Magic, this book covers the basics... And only the basics. Meaning, if you are looking to use this book for a leaping off point for the Elemental Arts, then this is your book. However, if you are even basically familiar with the Elements, this book will be largely redundant, information wise. I think that if it wasn't for the beautiful writing in this book, I would have quickly become bored with this book and it wouldn't have been useful to my practices.

If you're looking for a good book with inspirational visuals and words that transport you to another place, this is your book. If you're looking for information on the subtle practices of Elemental Magic or Traditions, you'll be disappointed. I also think that those who look for rigid guidelines on how to practice spells or rituals with an Elemental theme will be very disappointed as well, since most of the spells and rituals inside this book are largely informal... Though this informality is customary for Elemental Magic, it will prove frustrating to the rigid practitioner.

I will say though, that this is a good book to help you when you have "writers block" when it comes to spell casting. I have changed a few of the spells in the book to meet my specific needs with resounding success, and it's always nice to have a book to flip through to get ideas.

I give this book 4 stars, not for the spells and rituals, or even the information inside it (because, by and large, the information is accurate, but nothing you can't find in about 100 other books), but for the beauty in the writing style.

Summary: Reach out and Touch the Magic
Review: One need not extol Scott Cunningham's many virtures as a writer, and this is but another of the fine volumes from the sweet Soul of the late author. In this small book, magical workings are explained, and spells given. It is not a study of high magic, nor is it intended to be. Instead, it is an introduction into the means of acheiving change by means not yet understood by science. However, it is not a primer on magic either. Those areas are better covered in Cunninghams's earlier works of Wicca and Living Wicca. This work presupposes a working knowledge of the Craft, and of the practitioner's serious desire to improve his magical ability. It is also a joyous celebration of a way of life in harmony with the divine and the world as we know it.

Summary: Discover Power with Nature
Review: Perhaps it was divine intervention that got me walking along the path of wicca, and perhaps this intervention urged to pick up this book so strongly. However it may be, all in all, this is the very first book i got on wicca, this and another by Silver RavenWolf called Teen Witch, a good one too. But Earth Power gave a me this sense of power and attunement to nature itself and perhaps a stronger bond with the powers that be. I cannot exactly put to words how it really feels, but just know that the spells within this book increases this awareness and sense within you of magic and forces all around you that all of you know are there but just can't seem to touch them and experience them with all your heart. You learn to respect and work with these forces to better yourselves.
This book and the spells and rituals, are not complicated at all, no tedious and long rituals like casting circles or altars, esbats and sabbats, no need for ordinary materials and ingredients that you would need for normal wiccan rituals. This is Elemental Magick, only you and the elements of nature are all that is needed to make *~MAGICK~*!
Blessed Be Everyone. ;)

Summary: A Pure Gem!
Review: There are so many words that i can use to say how truly i miss Cunningham's work (because of his passing to summerland). There will never be another writer of the Craft such as he. This book is a true, true classic and another reason why beginners should always start with Cunningham books first. I dubbed him as the "common sense witch" because of his easy way of no B.S. within his books and for being so straight forward in his words. If you are in the Craft and truly love the great outdoors, then this book will boost your level in what you need to know. I highly recommend this book greatly.

Summary: A great explination of the earths powers and magick.
Review: This book shows you haw to harness the energies right outside you front door, or back door. Easy and simple to di spells that will help you to get closer to the elements of our every day lives. I like the second book better but they make great companions to one another on you refrence shelf.
