Summary: I kept everything but the cover
Review: Actually make my journal last for years, but I am ready for a new one. Keep the book several weeks at a time, then go more free-form to the notebooks, page margins, etc., as I am more interested in recording thoughts and in recording learning and practice of sports, as well as the fitness plan.

Overall, the text portion proves a sensible guide.

Summary: An excellent workout log
Review: An excellent workout log for the beginner and intermediate weightlifter.

Summary: Best log on the market!
Review: Diary starts out with how to workout. It is not only specific about cardio vs. strength training, but within cardio it details differences in biking, treadmill, rowing, etc. The strength portion details machines, free weights, and tubing. The book has a picture of the muscles in the body for you to learn. Good nutrition is also detailed. The book leaves it up to you to decide what excercises to do and what to eat, but gives you the pros and cons for everything so you can individualize your workouts to your goals. The diary portion, for which there is 6 months worth of pages, is in a daily format with cardio, strength training, nutrition, and stretching sections. You make 6 months and weekly goals that help keep you on track. There is a spot to rate how hard you pushed yourself each day to make sure you are taking adequate rest time. I have found this diary very motivating.

Summary: Almost perfect
Review: I have to tell you that this book is WONDERFUL! I tried for years to figure out some sort of useful way to track my progress while exercising so that I would stay motivated and never succeeded. Then I found this journal/log...it's very well designed and tracks cardio/strength training/nutrition. It helps me stay on track, keeps me motivated, and easily lets me see my progress. It also helps me stay goal-oriented (which really DOES help me stay motivated because it lets me see that I'm making progress even if the scale's not moving) because you record 6 month goals and then break those down into weekly goals.

My husband, who is 61 years old and a self-proclaimed "professional couch potato" was impressed by the way this log helped me stay on track and stay motivated so he got himself one. I have to tell you that the man who would not even walk around the block with me is now doing cardio a minimum of 3 times/week and is working toward developing a strength training program!!! Thank you, thank you so much for this.

Summary: Great to keep you on track
Review: I love this little helpful diary/log keeper! Being a visual person who tends to beat up on herself on a regular basis for being lazy and unmotivated... I needed a book like this. Being able to look back through the weeks and actually see the progress has been incredibly helpful.

The only I thing I do not like about and I hope this changes in future editions...the lack of space for notes other than those related to nutrition. There is a box provided to aid in tracking nutrition and this is where I log other information - such as how I felt throughout the day, or how I felt about my workout or anyother thoughts I have had.

A page or two for tracking weight and/or measurements would also be of help too. I usually just track my weight at the end of a week and it's worked.

If you are serious about getting into shape and need some help this book is a valuable resource. As I said, just being able to leaf through previous weeks has helped me stay focused, maintain momentum, and see improvement --- not to mention has kept me from beating myself up too much because I can now see the results!

Summary: Great Book!
Review: I use this book everyday and it provides a great resource to track your progress with both cardio and weight training. It also provides motivation in itself to strive to beat your times and weights from days and weeks before. I highly recommend this book! Especially for those looking for a little motivation and those just beginning their excercise journey!

Summary: Just what I wanted
Review: I was surprised at the amount of reviews on this simple spiral-bound notebook. I'm not going to try and tell you anything that other reviewers have. However, it was said in a review that this notebook wasn't anything you couldn't do at home. That's exactly why I *DID* buy it. Yes, you could do this at home, but did they take into account that I *don't want to* or *don't have the time* to do it on my own? I wanted everything written up for me. I'm not lazy in my workouts, but I'll be damned if I'm going to create a page for every day of the year, and that my friends, is why I bought this book. A little bit lazy where I can get away with it, but the pages I've filled in this notebook will testify how much effort I put into workouts. It's SO easy too.

Summary: Very Good Book
Review: The book was filled with good information. I bought it for my fiancee. The journal has plenty of space to record the exercises for someone at her fitness level. The only thing I wish it had was a chart to record all nutritional intake (calories, fat, carbs, protein) rather than just a box for nutritional notes. Overall, I would recommend it to any lady who wants to shape up.

Summary: Good enough for me to keep using it
Review: There are pluses and minuses to this guide.
On the plus side:

- numerous spaces for listing specifics about resistance training exercises - weight, sets and reps. Can be adapted for related training, such as using a fitness ball or Thera-Bands (I write in the color of the Thera-Band instead of a weight, for example; or I write in the number of minutes I spent on a balance disk, instead of the number of reps)
- three spaces for listing cardio performed during that day
- A section for goals for the week
- a weekly wrap-up section where the user can summarize the week's workouts and see whether goals were met or unmet
- The weeks aren't specifically dated, so the user may begin at any time of the year and write in the date himself or herself
- There is a page for milestones in the back that's useful for entering races and results.

On the minus side:
- As another reviewer mentioned, there is little space for writing down general information, such as how the user felt during the workout, equipment or shoes used, resting pulse rate, hours of sleep, specifics about interval training performed, injuries, yoga or stretching specifics, or other comments.
- There is a box for comments about nutrition, so I use that for my general comments -- but it seems a bit small for people who like to track their diet in a log. I'd suspect they probably would track that in a different log.
- A portion of the guide contains general fitness information that's already familiar to people who read magazines such as Runner's World or Bicycling, or who get that through books or coaching. Shortening that section and lengthening the log part of the book would prove helpful.

All in all, the pluses are enough to keep me using this log.
