Rating: Summary: Best Fitness Book I've ever read Review: I've read quite a few books on fitness and diet. This one, by far, beats them all. Not only are you given easy to follow diet and workout plans, but everything is based on research and real world experience. And the authors share it all with the reader!!! Finally, the book is from Men's Health, a name you can trust, and not a supplement company looking to hock its own protein shakes. Do yourself a favor, don't go on a fad diet and homemade workout plan - buy this book and you'll have your diet figured out for the rest of your life!!! And the workouts are great - whether you are a beginner or advanced lifter!
Rating: Summary: might be a good workout plan, but the food is boring Review: My fiance followed this plan for awhile. The workouts might be great, I don't know, I didn't try them, but I did eat dinner with him every night, and the food was not that great. Two of the dinners are really good--the salmon, and the pasta with sausage--and the rest are blah. Ditto the food he had to eat during the day--the plan isn't too flexible, and he got bored. Check out The Abs Diet, also by Men's Health--the food is better.
Rating: Summary: A very different fitness book Review: This is a very different book and distinguishes itself from all the other books.
It lacks the science behind its claims, but most of the text in the book is right on.
It is also a very complete book, it goes through the basics of stretching, weights, and nutrition, body parts all in this one book. I have to say that this may be the only book one might ever need with another book on nutrition.
It is extremely funny and interesting read. What good is a fitness book that I have to force myself to read.
Rating: Summary: Results met expectations Review: This plan works. I don't believe I've ever eaten right in my life until following the meal plan in this book. I never thought I had the time to eat five times a day, nor did I believe that I had the time to exercise. I bought a weight bench and a few hundred pounds of weights and followed the home version (the book also gives a gym version) of the workout to the best of my ability. Some exercises I could not do well in the home gym so I looked at alternative exercises which I could do. The bottom line is that I did what the book said for 9 -10 weeks and have gone from 191 pounds down to 168, I have lost inches in my waist and gained muscle that I haven't had in years. Nine weeks didn't make me look like Mr Olympia but it did give me enough encouragement to continue on. I am sticking with the meal plan and am currently looking for another workout plan.
